Jerry I am a new subscriber. I love the way you like to help people catch fish. This is going to be my first year fishing for sheepshead and you have helped a lot. Thanks and hope to see you on the Pier. Where can I buy fiddler crabs?
@FishingWithJigginJerry Жыл бұрын
They usually do not sell Fiddler Crabs in the winter. Fiddler Crabs pretty much hibernate, and the Sheepshead are not targeting them. I recommend this time of year using clams, oysters and mussels. Thanks for watching! Good luck out there and have fun fishing!

Do you fish on bottom or work up and down the water column..
@FishingWithJigginJerry Жыл бұрын
Both, it depends on the tide and location.

Jerry I called around in Charleston looking for fiddler crabs but nobody had any. Where do you get yours? Can you help please. Thanks SamQ

Unfortunately, Fiddler Crabs are going to be difficult to find during the winter months because Fiddler Crabs pretty much hibernate and they will not be out running around locally. Most local tackle shops that do carry Fiddler Crabs get them from Florida but even then they do not sell many so a lot of them don't bother ordering. Small young Sheepshead during the winter are what usually bite Fiddler Crabs and that's because they do not know any better, they are young and still learning. Larger Sheepshead are very smart and seasoned and when they see a Fiddler Crab hanging in front of them in the winter months, they look at it like what in the world are you doing here? The best bait to find and use during the winter months is clam, oysters and mussels. I hope this helps.

Planning a little fishing trip with a couple of buddies what's biting at the Mt. Pleasant pier? We are looking to catch some whiting or any other good eating saltwater bank fish. Helppppppp
@FishingWithJigginJerry Жыл бұрын
It depends on the time of year. Through the winter here in the Lowcountry you will be limited to Whiting, Spotted Seatrout, slot-sized Red Drum and Sheepshead. Through the spring, summer and fall months the list is bigger and bait is more abundant. Whiting is an all-year-round fish and you can catch them off of the Mt. Pleasant Pier using frozen Squid. They love it.

Hi, Jerry. Thanks for the education. Did you perhaps measure the length of the sheepshead? I really wonder how long it was.
