In today's video were going to show you how to fish for trout using micro jigs. One of the most effective ways to catch trout in creeks, streams, or rivers is using micro jigs. Micro jigs have a small profile and represent small bugs like nymphs, grubs, & more. When using these little jigs fishing for trout under a float presents the bait in a way that is extremely natural and hard for these trout to resist! A couple of our favorite ways to fish micro jigs is either using a sliding float or a fixed float. For the browns here in AZ - drop shot top hook I use a sort of offset size 18 fly hook. Bait it with one of those eggs with a swimming tail soft plastics. Bottom Hook just a black or white marabou 1/4 oz jig.

Those are considered micro or small when fishing on the west coast but the real small, light line, light weight presentations is what we use in Pa for steelhead.

Does this work on wild browns? I live in Scotland and jigs are not fished at all here. I had a cracking season this year fishing marabou jigs, the local browns and sea runs were climbing all over them, best a 3.5lb sea run brown.

I’ve been tying my own micro jigs with Maribou and hair and I had a heck of a time finding small jigs with quality hooks. The panfish style sold at all the stores bend out on a 3+ pound fish. I was able to go to the fly shop and find quality blank jigs. Do you possibly know someone who sells quality blank jigs in small sizes? I need to get like 100 each in 1/80 and 1/100
