Is this full-length episode, Ivo takes you to the weed beds where he shows you tips and techniques for jigging up walleyes.
A while ago we aired our own fishing show, which aired from coast to coast in the US on the Sportsman Channel.
Since then we've had many people ask us if we had DVDs for sale of the first season of the show. We figured that instead of selling a DVD, that we would provide you the episodes for free!
This episode has been re-edited in HD 1080p for your viewing pleasure!
As always, good fishin!

Glad you enjoyed our videos and sounds like you have a great trip planned :) Look for healthy green weeds at this time of year and they will be holding fish. You should get into bass, walleye & muskies as well. When you come out of the lodge, there will be a nice weed bed just to the right - you'll see a floating mass of reeds and the weed bed will run in front of it. Also,head straight out from the lodge, watch your graph as you will see a nice weed bed on the other side. Have a great trip!

For lures, we like to use crankbaits such as a Rapala - for spoons we like to use the Python Darter if we are casting form shore and we absolutely love using the Viper Spoons while trolling. As for Jigging, Thundermist is coming out with a totally new jig in about 2 - 3 weeks and they are fantastic for walleye :)

Nice to hear from you in Croatia. You can catch walleye form shore using a variety of lures. Jigs work well as do crank baits and spoons (Python Darter). Also from shore, you can use a live bait rig as walleye will readily take minnows (bait fish) Good fishing,

For walleyes, the SP1 or SP2 Viper Spoons with a worm or leech work fantastic if you drift or troll from a boat. If you like to jig, try a black head jig and a black twister. For the channel cats, use a piece of fresh cut bait. If regulations allow, use fresh cut sunfish or cut sucker or cut perch. Either way, fresh is best and we have some catfish videos with more tips for you as well. Hope you do well and that you have a great day on Thursday! Until next time, good luck & good fishing!

I can't recall exactly what I was using on that day but I like to use 10 lb test braided line with a 10 lb fluorocarbon leader line of about 10 - 12 feet long, when jigging for walleye. AS for reels, Diawa makes good reels and the Pflueger president reel is good quality for the value :)
@thundermistlures

My go to line for fresh water is lb test and I like to use Seaguar fluorocarbon line - I like to use it for salt water as well. If you are looking for a good mono line at a reasonable price, the Bass pro Excel brand is very good :)

....oh and by the way, Scotsman point on Buckhorn lake is also good this time of year. Again, just find the healthy weeds....there's, a nice weed bed around the corner form Scotsman point (north) and there is also a large weed flat on the opposite side of Scotsman point - you can get to buckhorn from pigeon (As I am sure you are aware) Hope you have a great trip!

Pigeon Lake woudl be a good choice. The Walleye, Muskie and bass will be on the bite. The south end is good - look for green healthy weeds and you will find active fish. If you know where camp fisherman is, there is a fantastic weed bed right across the lake, on the opposite side of Camp Fisherman. Good luck!

Hi Mile - you are correct....you do not need a wire leader for walleye - their teeth are spaced far apart and you will not get cut off, so no worries :)

You can cradle the walleye by putting one hand under his belly and grabbing a hold of the tail with your other hand. If you are very careful, you can slip your one hand under the gill cover (not in the gills - never touch the gills if you plan on releasing the fish - if you plan on keeping it, it is a non issue)

@thundermistlures

When jigging the weed flats, we would rather use the 6'6" rod and at least medium action as you will need some "hook setting power". For jigging, the braid with a fluorocarbon leader would be ideal.....mono is better for casting crank baits but braid with a fluorocarbon leader is great for jigging,...straight Fluorocarbon would also be o.k. :)

Hi Jess - suggest using 10 lb braid with 10 lb fluorocarbon leader - that would be ideal for pike and walleye :) A good reel would be the Pflueger Supreme and suggest paring that with a 6 1/2 foot, one piece med/heavy rod. Good luck in BC.

@Johnyroger12 The fish are usually slower at feeding when the water is still cold. Try spinner baits, plugs or other artificials but retrieve at a slower speed. Also, try a live minnow with a float - this will allow the bait to remain in the water longer and may trigger more bites. Thanks!

If you want to catch big pike buy some crankbaits that dive from 8-13 ft deep. If you have a boat you can troll about 5 ft off of the drop off line. My first pike of the year was a 3 ft pike.

good video, i was curious... when fishing with bucktails on weed edges/flats what kind of set up do you want to have? i'd think that a 6'6-7 foot rod would be ideal. medium-medium light action and 8-10lb test? not sure if mono,fluro, or braid would be better for the weedy scenario or even braid with a fluro/mono leader... hmmm
