I love that you say “thank you” to the fish I do the same thing every time I get a fish especially when I get a 3-4 pounder out here in Iowa. I say it so much my 4 year old son says it as well.

Alright, you talked me into it! I was sitting here on my day off wanting to fish. But it's °35 with 15-20mph gusts of wind. But I know some deep cover spots! So thanks for the motivation! 🤟🏾

I just got through watching several videos on repairing broken rods after I broke one of my favorite rods this weekend. It's not too hard to do. My favorite was using a piece of an Old rod to drop into the broken rod to bridge the two together. Just do a search and you can get that rod back in action soon.

Good to know. I'll check it out.

I always try to cast under the wind if possible, meaning as close to the surface of the water as I can. Almost like I'm trying to skip the bait.

Whenever I see a rod break, it just gives me a cringe, like when a horse breaks a leg. Bank fishing in a strong wind, that is a tough condition, but you made it work, also when possible, side-arm cast that keep the lure lower in the air also help on windy days.

I feel your pain on that snapped rod.... still a good save on getting that bass to the scale. Lately I've seem reviews that have been complaining about Dobyns rods snapping in two... some have suggested that they have changed their carbon fiber composition making them subject to premature failure.
@BassBrothersFishingDMV2 жыл бұрын
Good to know. I'm a fan of Dobyns rods but can't afford this kind of failure. They're return process is also not great. Requires you to soend money just fir them to determine if it's a manufacturer defect.

@@BassBrothersFishingDMV Well my friend you have that covered. Send them a clip from your video showing the break, they better cover that, it's legit. BTW I was watching another fishing channel recently and his Dobyns rod broke on a cast! Dobyns is junk, I'm still using Fenwicks I bought 30+ years ago and they are flawless.

Lol that's not windy, I will be fishing tomorrow with 60mph gusts, , I might end up carolina with up to 1/8th to a quarter oz that will let me control my line with feathering, with my rod tip down I will get my line down and straight to my bait 😀
@BassBrothersFishingDMV Жыл бұрын
Good luck my friend. 60mph gusts would keep me home lol. Stay safe.
