Arguably one of the most deadly trout lures on the market. The kastmaster is hard to resist when put in front of a stocked trout. These stocked trout are biters and aggressive when they enter the lakes and ponds. Trout fishing with kastmasters is pretty easy to do and when done right, you can easily fill your stringer with stocked trout. In this video Jordan Knigge from Addicted Fishing talks about how to easily set up your kastmaster and exactly how to fish the lure for these tasty little stocker trout.

I used to tie them straight to the line but I think a metal loop is really important to add. If you get a kastmaster with a rough cut, that hole will slice your line right off if a fish hits it. It's happened to me 3 times.

Definitely! I always attach it with either a duo-lock snap or something similar, or a ball bearing swivel with a snap on it, but I never trust my lures/fish fighting to the flimsy “safety snap” types of snaps, always duo lock or coastlock or similar, the snap helps with the action too, sort of like using a loop knot on jigs and spoons

Same, prefer a snug knot attached to the stock split ring. I also put a small siwash hook on with the point down, and bend the point inward just a bit with pliers to reduce snags.

I'm not a pro but 6# is my go to for basic alpine lakes and rivers. Have good knots and you shouldn't have a problem. I use 4# also and I like it even more than 6#. Love your videos, I just want to say I just discovered how great the kastmaster is but I have found that if I just use a slow steady retrieve almost so slow it seems like it should be dragging on the bottom just enough to get it to wobble side to side works best. I have used a few twitch's or even just let it fall if I get a short hit. I'm going to try your method a little more but I haven't done as well. Also looking forward to trying to do some hard water with the kastmaster this winter. Thanks again for the great videos and the awesome tutorials.

@@AddictedFishing it doesn't have to be right on the bottom if I want it to stay higher in the water collom I might give it a couple twitch it will keep it up but definitely I try to crank just fast enough to make it woble back and forth but not spin. It will look just like a minnow swimming. I did catch a couple trout this morning the retrieve like the video showed. But can't say Wich is better but I do know the castmaster catch's fish.
