“Euro”/Tight-line nymphing is simply micro centre-pinning … one of many gear-fishing techniques to present a fly. The current popularity highlights two sad trends in “fly fishing” (I don’t consider simply gear fishing with flies “fly fishing” …. Neither Centre-pinning with flies or trolling with flies behind flashers are casting the line to deliver the fly). The first sad trend is the short cut to simply catch fish, or as many fish, by whatever means necessary vs the inherent limitations that fly fishing places on the angler - ie not Hoover vacuuming every fish off the bottom. The second is by being so gullible as to not recognize what this technique is folks are paying double and triple for “Euro Nymph” rods vs what they’d pay for nearly identical micro centre-pin rods.
