I almost never comment on anything. I can't believe these videos are free. Their production quality is top tier and you guys really know how to teach someone with no previous knowledge. Thank you! Really.

Exceptional content, presentation, and camera work. By watching these videos, I have been through a high-level, educational course that is very interesting, and learned a tremendous amount along the way. Please continue to produce such high-quality, informational videos. My daughter and I are grateful! Thank you!

Nice video, esp. on setup and technique. When streamer fishing from a drift boat in big rivers and high current I forego a sink tip line in favor of a full sinking line using only 3 feet of heavy leader . This is often "extreme water" ( the Missouri, Snake or White come to mind) during conditions not conducive to nymphing or during blowouts. This setup allows a large fly to immediately be positioned lower in the column in front of large brown trout. No "drifting" of the fly is allowed here. Immediate rapid stripping mimics an escaping baitfish swimming for its life. After those few very rapid strips it is time to recast & hold tight.

Excellent suggestion and technique. Something to cover in the next streamer episode for sure, thanks.

I used to use big yellow marabeau streamers in a Montana reservoir in the spring for big pike, who would cruise the reedy shallows looking for spawning panfish. Crazy violent strikes, often right at my rod tip. Fun

Got to love eats like that!! Pure addiction!

Another reason for upstream streamer casting is in a run (maybe 6-7' deep), the fish will follow it as it dead drifts down, past you, and it hits as the fly picks up at the end of the drift. This is great for bullies (we can pursue bull trout here in Idaho, but it's catch and release.)

4:15 unless youre on the provo river in Utah....you see the fish here are just special. not good special, but bad special. 50+ hours of streamer fishing dozens of patterns up and down the river and maybe 3 fish. and none over 12 inches.

Sounds like a tough school to go to!

I don't use the big streamers, usually 6-8 wooly buggers , Mickey Finns and Gray Ghosts. Do I need anything heavier than a 9 foot 5 weight for that ?

For those flies, absolutely! A 5wt would be ideal...

I have to disagree with the video or at least how it is presented. While certian things you said do apply to trout, I think too many fly fishing videos talk about facts or give advice without the disclaimer that they are mainly speaking about Trout fishing.
