Seth Feider is an incredibly good teacher, he has a good way of explaining things in detail.

The quality of your vids are unreal and I agree nothing like using a spinning reel with a good Rod, I use a stratic ci4+ 2500 size with a 852 J&W Loomis Rod and its amazing setup for me personally.

Really good video. I have heard some of the key points before, but Seth put it together well. - high vis braid to see bites - larger reel to get the benefits of greater spool diameter and drag area - heavy power rod to drive the single hook at the end of a long cast All applies to grub fishing as well. Wonder if a longer rod (7.5 - 8ft) would be helpful? More weight, but more leverage for casting and hook set.
@thomasjtn42329 жыл бұрын
+John Pendleton I agree, he basically reminds us that common sense is usually the answer. like the guys that need a super ultra light rod for steelhead fishing and the lightest possible line 4-6 lb t test is best. you can catch them the same on 20 lb. yellow braid with a 3 foot leader and a medium heavy spinning rod.

Great tips!! I immediately noticed the larger reel size and may give those a try!! I kayak fish 5 or 6 day's a week during the season here in Ontario, Canada 🍁 . I only use spinning gear and have 5 reels I the 2000/2500 sizes so I'm interested to see how a 3000 would work for my style of fishing.

first time I seen you, I really appreciate the way you explain things I fish for Smallmouth quite a bit and the rivers in Ohio and on Lake Erie by far my favorite fish to fish for and my favorite bait is a tube. I usually buy some colorform of green pumpkin and I mix my own color of die . I use spinning tackle usually 1/8 ounce internal weight, with a Texas Rig four or five out Gamakatsu wide Gap hook. that way I don't get hung up cin the current on the rivers. the only real problem I have is tear outs. I like And subscribe

Seth, Thanks for all of the info. I'm new to tubes, so this was great! I'm hoping to catch a few lake Erie smallmouth in the spring in 2017. I couldn't afford the Daiwa gear, but it looks awesome. I did pick up a 2500 series Arbor reel, so I'm going with the larger reel with the 7' ML rod and I really like the feel of it.

Fluorocarbon Leader Material - or straight Fluorocarbon? What size braid? How do you get long casts with this size bait and a heavy action rod? I would think Med-Hvy would be as heavy as you'd want to go???
