Bro, I get you won't read this but maybe someone else will. I am 57. Live in Michigan. Been fishing "snot" tube baits since I was 23. So, 34 years. I regularly catch bass that I have described in many a bar over many a year, that you can make a fist, shove it into the bass face and not touch a bass. Huge bass hit the "snot". Love ya'll bro long time subscriber.

I am no stranger to fishing as I have a 16.5 Lb Walleye on the wall, a 7lb. large mouth, caught numerous crappies up to 3 lbs and some great small mouth. However I did most of this as a younger boy and man growing up on a resort in Northwest Wisconsin. We fished lakes under 1,000 acres and believe me they were no Walleye fish factories like I see on the videos. Oh, also took a few years out to become addicted to Muskie Fishing and managed to get at least one Musky per outing. This was in the days when We did not use bait casters and 8lb test line was standard along with 11g floating Rapalas. I guess you figured out I am pretty much out of date. I got away from fishing when I bought a hobby farm and started managing Whitetails. Now I have no more room for Mounts and with all the new electronics am starting all over and it is like being on another planet. Your style of teaching an advice has been my real go to. It is not all BIG FISH FACTORIES and super Sonar. You have really been invaluable. Believe me it is never to late to teach an "Old Dog" new tricks. I started at 12 and now turned 75. Thanks . Good video. Tubes are crazy versatile. I'm still fishing them like Guido and like Shaw G. I also love fishing them on a mushroom head cause you can feel the bottom better than a hidden head. It's good on a football head too. Smoke is my favorite color, I don't care what color the flake is. I'm an old guy and I fish in the tradition of Billy Westmoreland, Charlie Brewer, and other Tennessee fishermen and guys around Kentucky and in the Ozarks. Cracking a tube is gonna be something I try. Great video.

I really like Tokyo rigs for tubes, adjusting arm lengths changes up not only the action, but also allows for shaking on the bottom at different heights depending on the arm lengths. Rock bass, crappie, and panfish also have an affinity for smaller tubes.

Picked up three bass on beds last weekend doing this exact thing during a tournament. My friend's boat so all three fish he got five minutes of first chance and could not get them to bite with a jig, texas creature, and drop shot Moxie tail (in that order). All three times I came behind him (after saying "tune in Tokyo") with a creature bait on tokyo (green pumpkin with either purple or red flakes for bluegill) and within three casts for all three they bit and were caught. I honestly believe it is because my bait was suspended 2" off bottom and could jiggle on a 1/2 ounce sinker without moving. My buddy could not do that with the jig or texas rig and his drop shot was too high and too small to be a threat. Will be throwing more often for bass on beds. Cannot wait to try the berkeley gilly or the bellows gill on the tokyo

Absolute MUST for river smallies. Work great in current or transition zones between faster/shallower water and deeper water in rivers. Add a small corkie behind the jig head for a little extra buoyancy and slower sink. Let it hit that faster water above a deeper hole and get pulled into the deeper hole naturally by the force of the current. Can't tell you how many fish I've nailed right at the cusp of that deeper hole. They're just sitting there waiting for the current to bring them baitfish or crawdads.

You mentioned sand colored tubes, I like pumpkin as well. A lot of lakes here not only have gobies, but also are infested with rusty crayfish. When the Smallies aren't munching on one, they are crushing the other and the pumpkin colored tubes are a better match for the craws.

The "death spiral" is effective because it imitates a crawdad scooting down to the bottom. Crawdads rarely just fall slowly to the bottom from aquatic foliage. As they "crawfish" to the bottom, flapping their tail, they don't go in a straight line, they spiral to the bottom. Hence the effectiveness on the drop or within seconds of hitting the bottom just on the edge of a weed bed. I know this because I've been (as well as an avid fisherman) a snorkeler my entire life and I love feeding bass crawdads!

He sold his company to Bobby Uhrig, and I fished with him on the BASSMASTER trails in the mid 90’s to the early 2000’s. I had the best education on these baits… I now live in South East TX, and still fish the tube… It’s a killer bait down here!

Something to think about, Zman has a tube in their Ned lineup, I would imagine that cracking on of those tubes around finicky fish would absolutely get bit. My first Ned fishing was done with their ( Zman) tube and although I wasn’t cracking it I was getting bites when even my super finesse jigs and Neko rugged worms wouldn’t get bit.
@johnthomas580610 ай бұрын
these fat (large) tubes you are using are the same sized ones I use for catfishing....myself, I clean out a used chauking tube, fill it with a thinned out catfish (stinkbait) bait (use the chaulking gun) and fish the bottom of lakes and rivers.....tip on filling the tube, put a small hole at top of tube so there is no back pressure when filling with the bait...bait lasts longer in the tube, sitting in water the smell permeats the area and the little fish cannot knock the bait off the hook...tight lines everyone....

I used to fish for smallies long ago. Sadly, I cannot reach the places to catch them where I used to, as the park service or dnr or whoever/whatever “agency” controls access to that part of the river, has taken away all the parking within a 5+ mile radius of where i used to catch them. The on my way to access that part now, is through a private guide company, which no doubt, had a lot to do with limiting who can fish this area. Sadly, I can’t fish there anymore, and I refuse to pay that company that conspired with the agency to take away “free access” to one of my favorite places.
