Now i'm 66. My first memory of fishing was with a one piece cane pole. Grandpa would take us to a good bullhead pond. Kept him busy unhooking fish and re-baiting the hook. We would swing the line and sinker in a circle around the pole until it was wound up for storage till next time. I'm very fortunate to have memories like that.

Cane Pole, boy does that bring back memories. Cool looking fish. Tight Line

You want to just run the line through the eyelet and tie it off at the middle of the pole. Allows you to cast a little better and also relieves some of the stress on the tip

I live in South Korea. Cane pole fishing is VERY, VERY common in fresh water. Laying the pole so the top 1/3 is in the water seems to be the preferred technique. Though you do see a lot of folks just propping their poles so that the tips are between 6" and a foot above the surface.

I tie a knot in the lower half and loop it around. Be careful with those $3 poles - they are awesome for the price but do a little inspection. They get cracked in shipping and the metal parts get squished as well.

Ironically I just picked one of these up the other day & then found your video. You mentioned using your rigging for cane pole fishing but I didn’t hear anything about it. Would you elaborate on how you set up your own leaders and any other suggestions please. Appreciate it.

Hi mister, I bought 2 of these cane poles for our kids. But I have no fishing experience and have no clue what to do. So do you gave a video explaining all the elements of a fishingrod? Do you have a video about the proper knots? And finally, do you have a video about what to do with the fish, once you catch them? How do remove the hook properly that they still live when you release them? Which one can you eat and which ones not? I'm sorry if my questions sound stupid but I didn't have a fishing father or grandfather in the family. They did fish without me for smoked eel and I do have nice memories of fishing with cross net. And of fishing for crabs with meat on a clothespin and a rope. I want to make new memories with our own kids now. They are begging me to learn fishing with a fishingrod 😅

Pro tip wrap fish line all the way around the pole. That way if the rod breaks or slips the line is still connected

I just got one at Walmart for 3 dollars and want to try and figure it out. Like how tf do you cast it? Woukd this be good for fishing on a tube in the river all lazy and drunk? Can I catch a big catfish or carp on it for fun? I was thinking maybe i cpuld put a fly reel or something on it and throw flys idk.

You should never attach your line only to the tip of a can pole. I know doing so sound logical, and many do it, but it's terribly wrong. The ling should be tied just above where you hold the pole, then spiraled up to the tip where it's attached a second time. This way, if you tip breaks off, and cane pole tips break notoriously easy, you won't lose the tackle or your fish. Tenkara fishing is different, but as odd as it sounds, having a fish break your pole is a badge of honor in Tenkara fishing.

@MHoodFishing2 жыл бұрын
@@ethanmetcalfe3109 5 lbs would be a limit yet I have to add a maybe because of people bragging about getting bigger. Also a 5 pounder could break the line or pole depending on how the fish is played. Use the bend of the rod to play the fish. Never let the pole go straight even in line with the line during the fight. Walk with the fish working the pole between 1:00 and 3:00 till it can be landed.

There is no law saying you “have to keep it”. You just can’t add an invasive species into a new body of water. No law can force you to keep a fish you caught
