Thanks mate, For trolling with live and dead baits I troll just in gear. Trolling lures for Snapper I troll a little faster say 5 / 6 Km with a size 10 downrigger ball. Good luck mate

You mentioned set your DR at the bait ball level - what if the bait ball extends over a 7m vertical span depth? Do you set your DR at top, middle of bottom of the 7m bait ball?

Good question Cameron, When I find bait stacked up like that I always set my bait to be around the middle of the bait ball and slow troll around the outside of the bait. Good luck mate

@@Camh1968 A single injured bait on the outside of a bait school is a lot easier target than a single bait in the middle of thousands.

How fast do you generally troll for Snapper with the downrigger?

We usually troll a little faster for Snapper around 5 / 6 Km with a size 10 downrigger weight. Good luck.

@@ShannonsFishing Thanks, I will give that a go. I have only tried trolling for Snapper 2 or 3 times and other people have been telling me to go as slow as possible. Hasn't worked.

@@Camh1968 We troll the 10 pound ball around 5/6 km so I would try to troll the 8 pounder at 4 /5 kms. See how that goes. Good luck mate.
