For the boot of a car, I always go handlebars first and have one end of them go down between the back seat and driver's seat gap. This usually means only having to remove one wheel or managing to fit into some tiny cars.

Fun fact: You cannot fit a large Norco Fluid (on 29s) into a '97 Civic EK. 👍😎

I do fork in the front, handlebar tucked behind the seats, deralior side up, all on top of a big and water proof anti slip mat.

Been doing this for a while now with my old SUV and old hatchback. Camping tarps usually help before the old blanket.Old mil spec ponchos work as well. Very helpful content! Cheers!🤙

As a small car owner, I have to remove both wheels every time. One trick I have come up with to deal with the loose chain, is to reinstall an old hub (without the rim) I had upgraded from back in to take up the slack of the chain

It’s a lot easier putting the bars in first and put them down behind the front seats so you move the front seat forward

I carry my fatbike that way during winter to protect it from road salt & I double up on the moving blankets as studded tyres do the job on car interiors. I have scratches to prove it. My last two car purchases I took my bike into the dealership to make sure the bike would fit. Got a few strange looks and a couple of thumbs up.

Handlebar at the front. Always. Unless you want to spend extra if it banged the rear windows. Place small cardboard box/cloth over mech just for protection.

Strong recommendation to tie the bike and wheels with straps etc. to the car. Usually trunks have some loops where to tie them.

I put my old gloves over the pedels to stop them scratching anything. Might get some of these blankets as well. Look proper handy.

Definitely great advice there Neil. I like to use a plastic tarpaulin as a liner in the back of my wagon, it can handle the mud and water and keeps the car reasonably clean and protected. Also a light strap to keep the bike from moving around.

Even though I had seen these ‘blankets’ before, I had no idea what they were called or where to find them :), thanks so much for that, much appreciated.

I put my bike in handlebars first so they fit between front seats and that way you don't need to remove the rear tire. This work even for my small Ford Focus and XL sized bike.

I save the thick plastic cover from a mattress to use as a waterproof boot liner and find it easier to put the rear wheel behind the front passenger seat which I slide forwards as I am quite tall and my seat is a long way back.

I have a fiesta. Take out the boot lining and remove the spare wheel or the pump/sealant holder underneath the boot liner. Rear wheel in first drive side up, pushed up to passenger seat. Handle bars will now fit into the space where the spare wheel was

Nice real world vid. I was expecting life changing tips and realised that I wasn’t so bad after all. 😅 In a golf I manage to keep rear wheel on but moving passenger seat way forward and tilting seat forward. Annoyingly I don’t have memory seats… but still faster than removing rear wheel.
