Two questions... 1 on the box it says only compatible with jigtech tubular latches and door furniture. 2 it says to use the 25mm holesaw for the front but that doesn't fit only the 22mm dose
@alibeautiful5310
@alibeautiful5310 4 жыл бұрын
Hi. When I use 25mm hole saw it make slight bigger hole that I felt. When I have installed smart latch with out tapping 🔨 wit hammer smart latch goes in with finger push. Is it ok or what point I have missed it? Which screws driver should be used for smart latch because screws are very little. Thanks

Great video great product I'm a joiner and that looks very neat the only question l have Roger is as we know door latches don't last so if one failed how easy is the latch to replace ?. Regards Mal
@SkillBuilder
@SkillBuilder 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Mal You are right about cheap latches. I hope these are a bit better but if you need to replace them you can knock the latches back out and you can use the smaller latches if you put the bush in the jig to make the smaller hole so I think you would be fine. I removed the one I eventually fitted when I was trying it out prior to filming.

@SkillBuilder

We have a roofers roundup coming up soon. Maybe in two or three weeks and couple of How To's with Redland Monier. Electricians hmm we will give that some thought.

Very tidy system. Very much like the American way of doing door furniture, never understood why they drill such big holes! Well I do, just makes things easier when installing as you will never get a catching latch because you haven't chiselled out enough. This will probably work well in moulded doors as you will be using furniture that clamps throug the door rather than rely on little screws grabbing onto 3mm of hardboard!
@Xterminator4i
@Xterminator4i 4 жыл бұрын
I do believe there was some fudgery in this video, as the first part of the drilling had clearly already been done. When promoting a product, truthful and accurate representation is key, otherwise it looks like there is something to hide regarding the performance of the product.

There is often some fudgery in videos. It is simply due to having to re-shoot bits and try different ways of telling the story. If we had 10 doors to work on it would be a lot easier.

Replacing some water damaged doors this week. Frustrating that they used this system. Buy a jig for 2 doors and never use it again. Quick enough without a jig

Man, I wish they made one of these to US standards. The only US sized one I know of is from Irwin, and it is terrible.
@SkillBuilder
@SkillBuilder 8 жыл бұрын
I am fairly sure they would make one for USA but it's the door handles and latches they want to sell not just the jig. I will look at the Irwin one. Stanley now owns Irwin so who knows how that will affect their hand tools
@TheRacerRich
@TheRacerRich 8 жыл бұрын
The problem with the Irwin one is it just relies on spring tension of the plastic to hold it in place on the door, no clamping mechanism (you do screw it in at the front, but no side tensions), so after a couple of uses it doesn't have enough tension to stay in place anymore.
@SkillBuilder
@SkillBuilder 8 жыл бұрын
Irwin sell clamps so perhaps they hope you will buy one when the spring fails.

These are tubular latches and you can use the smaller ones with this jig by putting in the adaptor.

Just working out how this system works, the geezer who fitted our locks must have been shitfaced when he did this, cos its seems simple enough yet the door handle I'm fixing is hilariously badly put together...

Came across this today on a job, biggest pile of overpriced, unnecessary shite I've ever seen in 40 years. Any joiner who needs to use this ain't one. By the time I'd unpacked all the bits in the box I could have fitted 2 sets.
