Interesting video, thanks. Considered getting one of those before but didn't like the handles they offer. I like a larger diameter handle, whereas theirs are a bit spindly looking!

Great to see you back think id rather keep doing it the old way customers like to have a choice it’s quick but Icould still fit furniture in 10 minutes and it’s more satisfying not a fan of the latch but if you’re fitting doors day In day out maybe it’s the future great video as always

If you hang loads of doors its worth getting. Not every customer finds a Jigtech handle they like but probably 70% of my customers do. I save 15-20mins per door so on a good sized house the £60 odd for the kit is paid for. The jigtech door packs are good value too at around £20-25.

The nicest downside for me is having to use their handles, if done other manufacturers started making ones that would work with this system then I would happily use and recommend them.

I have fitted hundreds of if not getting on towards a thousand Jigtech handles. Same jig, on second set of holesaws. Its incredibly fast for getting the handles and latches in. Especially the privacies for ensuites, bathrooms etc. Dont bother with the the keep markers etc. Its not great. I discard the round "smartkeep" Jigtech supply a traditional keep now too. Great system, huge timesaver. Probably shave 15-20mins off each door hanging. Handles and latches are good quality and look smart too.

Will this system work on 44mm doors ie fire doors?
@ironian243 жыл бұрын
As mentioned before a nice system and can see how it can make it really easy to install, but for me there are a few flaws. All good if you use thier handles and locks, realistically that is not going to happen. Secondly I can see those holes saws getting blunt quickly and they are slow compared to auger bits or other sharper more expensive cutters that work better and quicker. It doesn't take me long at all to mark up and drill a standard handle bolt and keep, save your money as this has limited use to thier product only, tools look cheap and look like wearing out quickly and costly. Better of making your own jig for what ever handles you use and keeping it safe for the next time.

Only 5? Have you fitted anymore? I can see this being very limited as my customers generally buy their own handles so that would stay in the workshop if I bought one. Not worth the expense for me plus it only saves a 1 minute or 2 as I do mine the traditional way.
@roscopeco20003 жыл бұрын

It’s a gimmick, great for the first few doors but the holesaw bits go blunt very quickly. And they don’t have a massive range handles. And the ones they do are expansive. Bought one last year. Threw it away after a month.
@BuildWithAE3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dodgy Dave it is limiting in handle range but one of the handles was a spot on match for the existing handles, the quality of the tool bits they seemed pretty good but you would have to use it quite a bit for me to really ascertain that all the best Tony 👍

@@BuildWithAE I’m sorry Tony I always agree with you but just looking and have come across these pressed doors and the fast fix type of ironmongery we are on the slippery slop of McDonald’s type of workmen/woman ship ( have to be pc now a days) give it to them cheap and they will be lining up around the corner, All of a sudden we accept it as the norm and we all think cheap rubbish with no edging is the nice look
@BuildWithAE3 жыл бұрын
@@jimgeelan5949 Hi Jim you are quite right the problem with the way the market has been pushed with materials it’s a supply and demand, it’s a mass produced door it’s never going to be a handmade and as you know we have to fit all kinds of products all the best Tony
@sawdustmakerjohn34711 ай бұрын
@jimgeelan5949 Hollowcore doors have been around for a very very long time. Nothing wrong with them really. They are definitely budget doors. I won't have them in my house but that's personal choice. With an oak veneer door, handles and ironmongery it's £200 plus per door supply and fit If its a hollowcore primed it is £100 a door supply and fit. Big difference As for the fast fit stuff, I can fit whatever people want. But if they like a jigtech one why wouldn't I. New things are always coming out. Presumably you have eschewed modern technology and wrote your comment via semaphore

Not 5 minutes when the plug is stuffed in the saw...but hopefully you learn the first time. Made this mistake and took a further 15 minutes to get the saw un-bunged!! I do like the kit though and I'm sure you'll be a Jigtech convert after the 3rd door. 😉

So you can't possibly do it in the time they say and you also end up with a screw poking out of the door frame .... but it works perfectly! FFS these people have no shame in promoting a product just becasue they're being paid for it, despite the obvious failings that they point out!

Hi Anonx101, We were not paid to promote this product. As I mentioned at the start of the video, the kit was given to us to try out. It was not intended as a promotional video, merely a demonstration of it's use and an honest review throughout. John

@@BuildWithAE Well the claims for the product and the performance of the product are inconsistent and it's on that basis it should be judged - so therefore it's just marketing bullshit combined with bad design from the manufacturer and you endorse it by giving it a thumbs up and say it's a great piece of kit.
