The keeper can be fitted on the surface of the frame leg and this is done if there is slightly more clearance between the door edge and the frame leg, the keeper (in my opinion) does look better when rebated in to the frame. Chippy

Does the lock keeper have to be rebated into the frame? We had a lock fitted recently and it is resting on the frame not rebated in. Is it just good practice or is there a reason for it?
