Y'know, i've watched other shower tray installation videos and they all looked well beyond my diy skills, so i gave up on the idea. This looks entirely doable and well within my skillset. I sometimes think some so-called diy videos are done by professionals who make it look much more complicated than necessary in order to put people off attempting to diy such things. dont laugh.. I accidentally managed to unscrew the shower waste when I was trying to retrieve a lost diamond earring - I was only trying to get the sliver plug thing out! ). With the help of some silicone it's all back working :)

Unless you plan to defecate in the shower, what would clog it? What will go through a pipe from a shower is going to be almost entirely just water.

The corrugations in the flexible waste will trap all sorts of gunk which is why in most places they are against the regulations, better to make up some pipe with fittings to get the shape you want, wouldn't take long.

I agree they are not perfect but in this situation they served a purpose and it is easily accessible if I need to remove it to clean or replace. So far so good!

@@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE Be careful with these frames. They can be out of square putting undue forces on the shower tray. Because they are metal they distort during welding unless held firmly during the process. If you are unlucky enough to have one that is uneven, good luck sending it back to Bathstore if thats where you got it from. Once the box has been opened they don't want to know. Quite how you are supposed to check it without opening the box is anyones guess.

Great video, I've already fitted my shower wet wall before my basin , I've been told my basin needs to fit under my wet wall to give a good seal🤔 Do I need to cut a piece off my wet wall to accommodate or should I just crack on and use loads of sealant? thanks.

If it's possible I would cut a piece off as that way you are not relying soley on the sealant. If you only rely on the sealant, then it is at more risk of leaking when the sealant gets old. Hope that helps. Good luck with the project and thanks for watching!

You probably could yes but if you're using the plinth supplied it might not cover the full depth of tray, legs and plywood. If you're making your own then fine. Use marine ply in case it gets wet. If you're using wood then you could just make your own riser kit out timber. The idea of the kit is it's quick and easily adjustable. Best of luck with it.

Will review waste from because its not at an angle so it can flow? Plus the flexible waste pipe is bent downward then back up so please explain to me how that will flow? I'm doing my own shower replacing my bath

Hi there, I think some of this is to do with the camera angle. The waste tilts slightly down so flow is fine. As for the flexible pipe, i did prop a small block of wood under the pipe to lift it slightly after filming but I think the camera makes it look worse. It all flows well. The angle is shallow due to the height of the existing pipe work but it works well. If it didn't I'd have my shower full of waste water! Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

Hi, Great video, Just had our shower fitted by recommended professionals. I checked and the outer edges are level, but, the water after a shower, puddles just stands there, although the outer edges drain away. Any ideas. The installer says this happens often!

hi great vid,very helpful,anyway my query is...ive got a twyford shower tray thats 45mm,the trap adds a further 80mm,its going onto a concrete floor,the riser kit thats recommended with the tray is not a frame,just legs etc...will this allow room for the trap? i wanted the frame riser from bathstore,but on the pec,it says height 18mm,surely this aint enough?

Hi there, you will need to know the maximum height the legs adjust to. You can raise the tray up and down. But as you say, be careful as with a concrete floor this is little room for maneuver. On a wooden floor, you can cut a bit off floor board to sink the trap in. 18mm doesn't sound right to me, the riser in the video is 100mm tall and the height is dictated by the plinth that comes with it so just check the measurements as it sounds like they've been printed wrong on the advert. I have an existing shower tray which is not level. It slants down slightly towards the corner, as a result water pools up and doesn't drain away properly. Is it possible to access and adjust the legs of the frame near the wall to make them higher and level out the surface? If this is impossible I will leave it or get someone to replace the whole tray unit.

It should be possible yes, but if you have tiles which have been tiled right down to the shower tray then when you lift the shower tray up, it is likely to break your tiles OR it may not physically move upwards as the tiles will stop it from moving. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

We have just had a quadrant shower installed and there is a leak betwen metal shower frame and the shower tray at the bottom. Is there meant to be some kind of adhesive between the tray and frame. There seems to be movement between the two as it is currently just sitting on it

It should be attached to the frame. I uses gripfill but you could sealant or something similar. If it is loose then I would say it has been fitted the wrong way. It should be secure. Any movement will cause sealant to break and allow water in. Sorry to hear that but I would call the installer back to fix. Thanks for watching

If the leak is between the shower tray and the frame then the leak is elsewhere. There should be no water between the frame and the tray, but it should be sealed to it.

It was from bathstore. Shower tray and riser kit. You can drain the pipe work to your foul drainage if you have the right height. You may need to change the existing pipework behind your toilet though. Good luck and thanks for watching.

The upper & lower curved track supports the sliding glass doors but they all seem to look flimsy. The lower curved track is supported by the waste tray. but the curved top track is weaker.. Is there a minimum & maximum weight for the curved track?

Hi Rob. To be honest I'm not sure. You are right, the frames are quite flexible and rely on the fixings to the wall and strength of the shower tray for support. You would have to check with the manufacturer of the shower quadrant you purchase I guess as they will all vary in strength. But the glass and slide rails are not heavy duty by any stretch. Ok thanks.. I wanted to buy or create a glass corner wardrobe but I decided to improvise & use a chrome corner shower unit. I made a base unit which is raised 300mm from the floor & suspended off unistrut bracket and I fixed some white mdf sheets to the adjoining walls. My base unit is only supporting the glass doors & lower curved frame as I will not be standing on it or in it.But I think i'll use some thin steel wire rope at intervals on the upper curved frame for extra support & also prevent distortion. A quad shaped sliding drawer will also be constructed to fit under the base unit & i'll also add some l.e.d lighting at a later stage.

You can. I tiled mine up to the feet of the shower try. That way plinth sat on tiles but I didn't waste money on tiles that would never be seen. Thanks for watching.

Hi there, I bought it from Bath Store. I have to say I think the kits where the legs attach directly to the shower tray are easier to install. I would also recommend paying a bit more and getting the fiberglass/resin based shower tray like the one in my video. They are lot more solid than the plastic trays and work better with a riser kit. I recently installed one of these. Absolutely terrible riser kit. When the frame was all bolted together none of the top lengths of the metal were level with one another. No nuts provided to hold the bolts together just threaded internals of the frame and literally only 2 threads. Had to drill new holes so it sat flush once bolted together and then use nuts to make good. Shower tray was bowed too had to use a huge amount of grab adhesive. Why don't customers speak to their installer first before buying first rate rubbish?

Hi there, mine worked out in the end but you're right, it wasn't the easiest to install. I think the trays with large plastic screw in feet are better and take less time to secure. Although it sounds like you had a raw deal, all my parts were present. There's also several manufacturers making similar looking stuff, some good some bad so it's pot luck sometimes.
