Bit late to the party, but my mechanic did it from underneath without having to remove the fan and casing, etc. He replaced the belt tensioner assembly with little fuss regarding re-threading the belt, because he managed to keep most of it on. He did it so easily and within 10 minutes. It was a one-man job this way. But thanks for all the information, still very helpful.

Thanks mate this was a good informative video. Did mine today and I'm NOT a mechanic. Only problem is that you said to fit the new belt over the tensioner is Hard and needs two sets of hands. Not at all! I set the belt over the alternator, the fan and the compressor. Then crawled underneath and used the socket arm to put tension on with one hand and with the over slid the belt over the tensioner. Took about 2 minutes. 😂😉

you would think with a larger pulley size 70mm the bearing would last longer , thats my thought , and it makes sence as its not spinning as fast , as for the larger size on the CRD which i have dont know if it makes much difference from the genuine Nissan tensionerif its a smaller size , im sure for the none CRD its a smaller pulley size .

@@onlineautoparts Oh thanks I ask you because right now I just changed the belt, the same size 7pk1640. but I hear a sound similar to screeching. I don't know if I should put a bigger belt on it, maybe 7pk1650 Do you think it works? How could that sound go away?
@onlineautoparts
@onlineautoparts Жыл бұрын
@@juliog3190 you will only need the larger belt when fitted with our pulley- we have fitting notes- Important - The pulley pivot bolt must be torqued to manufactures specification to avoid a seized pivot and squeaking belt - a seized pivot caused by over torque is not a warranty issue.

Keep buying these none genuine tensioner for the zd30 and you will be able to swap the tensioner and belt out by yourself in under 15 minutes. None of this removing fan and shroud. On a patrol that shroud is annoying to remove. Factory tensioner lasted me 160k bearing was fine but the tensioner started causing slips. At 200 now and am on my 4th aftermarket. at $40 a pop vs 350 for a genuine im still ahead but am starting to get sick of it, two of them have had the bearing tear itself apart and have the idler pulley wander and throw the belt off. admittedly theyve seen occasional mud and water crossing work but arguably they aren't fit for purpose on a 4wd then. Not too bad if you're knowledgably and know to stop and sort it out asap (carry tools and spare) but if not, you are potentially looking at cooking your motor because no water pump. Seems no matter what you do (torquing pivot bolt to spec, cycling tensioner a few times) they just dont hold up.

You completely skip showing the most difficult step - actually getting the belt on! Also if you have fluid leaking out of the rubber boot the tensioner is broken, it should be a sealed piston

Yes thanks for turning the camera off during every critical moment. You might as well have just showed us one you completed earlier then told everyone to just work it out themselves. Nitwits.

Much easier to slip it over the aircon pump. Trying to slip it over the tensioner pulley is a very frustrating exercise, plus there is no leverage or working space.

No way is this a 2 man job. It's a piece of piss to do it on your own from underneath the car, 30 mins the first time, 20 mins next time. And with this shit Nissan tensioner design, there is ALWAYS a next time :) especially if you go off road with it. Those pieces of plastic in the eyes are also a stupid weak point, they flog out in no time at all. My factory one died at 40,000k from brand new. The Jackaroo I had previously never needed one in 160,000k, but of course that's Isuzu quality vs Nissan junk.

Do not buy this brand mine didn't last two months first of all the pulley is Oversize compared to the factory and they sent a belt that was too small and it didn't pivot well when taking off and fitting the belt I ended up snapping the bolt off poor quality product

There is 2 different tensioners for the patrol. The other has a smaller pulley and a slightly longer belt. We have seen plenty of Genuine Nissan Tensioners (which we also sell) snap the pivot nut when fitting the wrong one. Generally to the eye they look the same. The Common Rail Diesel engine has the smaller pulley and longer belt. It is only about 1cm but makes all the difference.
