Belt started slipping and squeaking in the rain over time getting gradually worse one day to the point the alternator pulley would loose a grip on the belt and the battery light would pop up and power steering would go out for moments. So I figured the belt had been replaced before and the alternator is brand new I bought a serpentine belt tensioner and swapped that out but helped for a little, then the belt still squeaked!!So decided to check the belt and it was torn in a couple spots so replaced the belt with a brand new one from AutoZone and cranked up with no squeak….until the car sat overnight and went to start the car and the noise came back!!! The belt would squeak for the first 5 to 10 minutes, but after driving it and giving the car time to warm up the squeak would go away temporary, but still it would drive me crazy. I was so frustrated and tired of throwing money at the car and the last thing imma do is take it somewhere when all they’re gonna do I ask for more money. So in a last effort I came to KZbin looking for answers. When I saw the video was a little skeptical about it but bought the 303. The only place that locally sold it around me was Acadamy and it cost me $25 for the smallest bottle they have but I followed the video and the car hasn’t made a single noise since. I sprayed the 303 two weeks ago and was waiting to comment to ensure it really worked. Since then I’ve driven in the rain multiple times and not one time did it squeak! Thank god I found this video for the much needed answer. Definitely left a 👍🏽

@AnonAnonAnon6 жыл бұрын
@@lindengauthier4 Cleaned it mate as best as I could. Jacked up the vehicle, took off the wheel, accessed the belt from the wheel arch as well as from the top of the engine. Considering the age of the belt, it wasn't that dirty or contaminated. It is, however, aged. I think the 'elasticity' of the belt has long gone, but the 303 seems to have added a new life to it. Since I posted my comment I've since bought another bottle and 'soaked' the belt first without running the engine, allowed it to soak in for five hours. Don't worry if you don't have the time to clean the belt, just soak and start up and hopefully the squeak/noise will go. Good luck.

I use a long screwdriver or other metal device with a handle and touch it to the fronts of the pulleys (the center part that is not moving) and around the other components. This makes it crystal clear where the noises are coming from. The water trick works also, but maybe both methods together. The 303 protectant sounds great. Awesome video, thank you!! Ok so I too was skeptical but I’ve replaced all my tensioners and belt x 3 so I figured it’s only $15. I’ve been dealing with this for over two years. Went down to Oreilly, bought it and sprayed the belt in my IROC in the parking lot. I put about 20 miles on it and zero squeak. Thanks for the tip, I have a 75 mile car cruise next week so I’ll see how it goes.

I started doing this on the same belt that came with the camry when i first saw this video at 300,000k miles. Then spray-treating the belt every 20/30k for 5-10 minutes while it idles. The belt now has over 452k miles, makes no noise and still runs like new as far as I can tell. The only confusing thing with this product is there seems to be a few different names for 303 products that actually do the same thing - and for all intensive purposes, are the same thing (i.e., 'marine & rec aerospace protectant' vs 'Ultimate UV Protection', etc...) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's just a marketing ploy and it's safe to use either product because they are in fact the same; I've used both with no problem.

Sweet Project Cars you ROCK! It is Day 2 and the squeal has not returned! I have a 2001 Corvette that had 30k miles when I bought her, I put on 30k in 2.5 years and this new squeal was totally embarrassing. I have replaced: The Serpentine Belt, Tensioner, and both Main Drive Idler Pulleys. All GM factory. The Air Conditioning Belt and Tensioner: Autozone. The AC Idler Pulley. GM Factory. Still squealing!! Arghh. I was about to replace the Alternator when I found your video. The Water Test worked great. I was spraying Silicone on each individual pulley but some must have oversprayed onto the Belt to stop the squeal, only to return again when the silicone wore off. For the Snowflakes, I put the 303, available from Autozone, on the belt with the engine not running. Started. No squeal! Then I cut the engine and reapplied the 303. Now it's Day 2 and still no squeal. Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!

I have a 2008 Toyota Tundra - It works and then starts squeaking again (But after a few time of spraying it with 303 **Automotive* Protectant - Not Aerospace. Anyway this video was helpful - it seems to be working - I have to turn my key on ((NOT START)) for about 10 seconds and then turn key all the way to start and no belt squeak (After a couple of day of continuously spraying) - approx 5-6 times of raising hood after driving and squeaking again. Again- this video helped it only squeaks a little in the morning ((Occasionally)) and then no more the rest of the day - this may go away after a couple of weeks - Im afraid to put more on it an possible start the process over. :)

I don't think I showed the actual cleaning, I just said to spray it down, then follow the video instruction. If it still squeaks after using this amzn.to/2WQg0sB , check your tensioner, but it's possible you may need to replace the belt. Hope this helps, have a great day. mad Mike
@lloydnolan82183 жыл бұрын
I did all this on my dodge diesel. Then changed the belt but the squeak came back even worse. Finally tracked it down to the tensioner. A constant squeaky belt noise is usually caused by extra drag from somewhere. My opinion.
@SweetProjectCars3 жыл бұрын
Hello Lloyd you’re very correct that’s why we mention many times to check all mechanical items that may need to be replaced tensioners and pulleys are huge culprits to squeaking noises they need to be in good condition for the belt treatment to work. Thanks Mike

Just so people know, the bearings inside the alternator itself can also go bad. It happened to me. There was a squeak and it got louder as it went on. I got stranded at a downtown parking lot and had to replace the alternator right there. The inside of the alternator was shredded, copper and metal was building up underneath it, ceased up and your motor won't turn over. So be sure it isn't coming from your alternator.
@SweetProjectCars5 жыл бұрын
You’re correct the bearings can go on an alternator but very very rarely that it happens we’ve been doing this for over 40 years and actually have never seen one Seize up because of the bearings thank you for Sharing have a great day
