Hi! Great helpfull video, thanks for that! We recently bought a house with an ikea kitchen but the plints buckled inwards... now I see it is because the rings are not there. do you have any tips on what we can use to keep de plints straight and not buckle? i would greatly appreciate. it. Thanks.
@AnnErasmus3 ай бұрын
My experience with those plinths is that they are not easy to work with. Here's what I suggest. 1. Try and get the rings from ikea, then you will need to remove feet 1 at a time (so that the cabinets do not move) then slip the ring on. Or 2. This may be easier. Have new plinths cut (from 16mm board with a matching coating) then position them and fix them with screws from the top. That is from inside the cabinets. Hope this helps ,good luck. 😊👍

I’m adding a new floor which is a bit higher than the original. Can you cut the height of these ikea toe kicks. Or is there another solution? Thank you
@AnnErasmus7 ай бұрын
I don't know of any other solution, I have cut them before. As long as you do not damage the slot that the retaining clip fits into. Not a nice job, good luck 😊👍

IKEA have done a really good job with these Metod plinths. Unfortunately, I have the old Faktum plinths which weren't nearly so easy to fit! I'm just about to start replacing the doors and side panels of my old Faktum units. I'd planned to replace the plinths too, but they're in decent condition so I've decided to prep them with ESP and then paint. A lot of the clips have broken, but they're still available on eBay, thank goodness. Quite a bit of work, but easier than cutting new plinth pieces to size and faffing around with the dreaded iron-on tape!

Question: can one easily take the plinth off to clean under the cupboards every so often? I’m installing this in a kitchen in southern Spain where there are often insects that need regular cleaning out. Not sure whether to install the plinth at all. Also, can the feet be regulated in height to adjust for a possibly uneven floor? Thank you so much for a really detailed explanation. So appreciated. I look forward to your advice regarding my questions asap - I have to install soon. Thanks so much.
@AnnErasmus Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Yes the plinth is easily removed, it clips on and off but I would suggest marking it inside so they don't get mixed up. Yes the legs are adjustable (see video kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooOtmHytatOLnrs) but be sure not to go less than 8 cm height because trimming the plinth is not easy. I hope this helps you, good luck😊👍

Tip! The feet have a tendancy to fall off. To prevent this, buy some 14mm small washer head scews. Take a look at the black foot plate; you will notice that there is a hole in it. Fit the foot plate as instructed by by AnnMatt and then locate the little hole. Drive your washer head screw into the hole and then attach adjustable feet. A more secure fit. Hope that helps.

@@AnnErasmus also, you can add additional 14mm screws into the shallower dowels on the back of the attachment plate.

Hi..thanks for the helpful vids I'm keen to understand how you should measure your kitchen cabinet height when you are installing a new kitchen and floating floor so the the plinth fits between the bottom of cabinet and floor without cutting the width of the plinth. Should I add the hight of the floor plank to the ikea recommended hight when install the cabinet wall rail?..or does the plinth have ability to move up 7 to 9 mm to take into account the floor. I'll be installing floor after installing kitchen? P.S I don't want to use edging between bottom of plinth and floor plank gap. And I can't lay floor first as the cabinets can not rest on the planks as they need to expand and contract. Your advise would be appreciated Cheers
@AnnErasmus2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. There is no adjustment in the plinth width other than the 2mm flexibility of the silicone strip at the bottom of the plinth. The only solution I see is, as you mentioned, is to lay a test strip of flooring next to the wall and measure, your rail height off there. Bear in mind that the current floor may be uneven. So I would err on side side of having too much room (2 or 3mm) for the plinth, then when setting up the plinth have it flush with your new flooring and if there is a gap place in where the plinth butts the underside of the cabinet which will not be visible normally because the plinth is set back. Hope this helps. Good luck 😊👍

If I prime the plinth, would it be paintable? I’d like to match the plinth to my custom painted cabinet fronts.

Hey, I’m pretty confused. I bought Metod Maximera kitchen. In all pictures the front base is far in front, and you can see it. But when the kitchen was at home, I saw that the front feet are so far back, and the base, that it can’t be seen at all. 10 cm deep. I thought 2-3cm but not 10. This looks very different than in the pictures of the cabinets. I mean, what kitchen has a plinth, which is 10cm deep cliped?
