How to fit panniers to a Giant or Liv hardtail ebike

Hi Mark , we bought the exact same bike today for my wife ,and same issue with the racks , so you just use the 31.8 mm clamp but file the ridge off it ? Thanks in advance . Regards Saran .

Yes, mine worked perfect like that. If it didn't clamp up I was going to put a shim made from a coke can in between the post and the clamp (I have a vid on shimming a seatpost with a can too).

Is this rack necessary for a rear child seat?

There are a few different fitting options for a child seat. I would be much more careful with the child seat than anything else as it is the only time the cargo is more important than the rider. I'd probably buy a decent bike seat then follow the instructions, then add some extra bracing/support because I don't want anything to go wrong :)

If I fit a dropper I will get the right size seat clamp with attachments for the pannier :)
