I go the other way round the room as u can cut your scribe upright against the fence of your mitre if you right handed still a lovely tutorial keep up the good work

Ahh yeah I get you, so use the chop saw then just slide it along and cut the scribe while it’s still on the bed of the saw?

Yes also cut the straight part of the cut on the saw aswell so no handsaw required

Yeah tidy job. Agree with Lee on this one. I load all my skirting out to the left of my bench then drag a fresh piece to the saw, cut the scribe (also using the mitre saw to cut the straight section), then slide along and cut to correct length. We all have our own methods though, whatever is quickest and tidiest.

Your methods of working are all pretty sound but I actually think its quicker to cut the skirting near to where its going using a trimsaw and coping saw. For the scribes I have a double handed pattern to draw round rather than cutting a mitre on it. We mark up the external mitres but carry them as a bundle to the chopsaw as last job.Not many people do it my way anymore but its rapid when your into it.

Cheers mate! Tbh I’ve always hated using the mitre saw for like 10 years I did it with a scribing block and just used the saw for the mitres but slowly I’ve given into the saw!! Haha cheers for your comment 👌💪

Nice work, hard to beat your method for speed. I'll be certainly trying it out. Do you only need to pin to the plasterboard? Doesn't look like you were aiming to nail into studs, prehaps the glue is sufficent fixing?

Thanks! Yeah give it a try! The pins we use are like 50mm so I think it would get the timber aswell. Maybe when I nail on the angle not so much. And the studs have double sole plates so there’s always timber there to fix too! Cheers for your comment 👌

Wrong way the first 1 to be is the wall opposite the door as you go in then you work back toward the door on either side

@@ashleydavenport3794 the problem with chasing around from the door is that in in years to come when things move and shrink you are looking into a gap. That's why I don't do it.

How do you find that chop saw mate, I find it a bit stiff to swivel for angles?

Yeah it’s not the best! Haha and also you have to 0 it yourself coz it falls slightly over 0! Which is a pain when your going from 45 to 0 all the time

Hi what are prices on site 2nd fix. Internal doors, external doors. Frie doors, skirting and arcs and door handles. Thinking of going on site been doing lofts and exstions for years. Did work on site last about 25 years ago as apprentice. Been offered some site work but got to give them a price.

Hi pal, site work is good just repetitive and need to be quick to make it pay. Per side of arch is £6 so £12 per frame. For a frame we get £12 for a frame to block work it’s £16. Skirting is £1.50 per metre. We have pre hung doors on are site so it’s very easy to fit (as long as the frame is okay. Think it’s like £4.50 for a normal, £5.50 for a fire. And like 4.50 for a handle, £5.50 for bathroom. £30 for external I think but everything is already chopped on so just fitting the frame really. Hope that helps cheers
