How To Fix 1999-2007 Chevy & GMC Door Hinges / Low Cost Repair For Cracked And Bent Door Hinge Ep.19

This is how to repair your cracked and separating door hinge on 99-07 Chevy / GMC / GM trucks. This is a common problem with this body style and I was not able to find a video on how to repair this without having to remove the dash. Hopefully this helps someone save some money the body shop my dad took his truck to gave him a quote of $1500 because they had to remove the dash to reach the plug welds in the back.
Over all we spent $45 on paint and primer everything else we had in the garage. Here is what you will need:
-Various sized hammers
-12mm and 10mm
-Mig Welder / Friend with a welder
-Wire Wheel + Drill
-Flat Head screwdriver
-Engine Lift or something to support the door

Just saw this GMC door hinge repair. I snapped my drivers door handle off in the sudden freeze yesterday so I climbed thru the passenger side and opened the drivers door from the inside. When I did that the wind took the door and slammed it open hard. I now have bent hinges. Your video is all good and I love your cat on the roof in the intro 👍🏻

It's only two electrical connectors to remove that door completely. Up in the side of the dash. Would make this project far easier - particularly when you're swinging the hammer. I did like your idea of using the crane to lift the door. Wish I would have thought of that.

no need on this truck as they are still tight and have no play. we have replaced the driver side.

My driver side door needs hinges & a lot of other stuff, it’s a nice truck just got some problems since owner before didn’t take care of it at all. Hinges, fluids, oil pump,oil change, brakes, door panel for both doors, door handles for both doors (driver side snapped yesterday cuz of corrosion, luckily it didn’t snap off on both sides completely & still is openable). There’s more that I haven’t listed but those are most of the issues that are immediate attention to get it run & so I can open it & stuff. So basically about 6.5k to fix it with just those.

I have a 99 Chevy 3500 I bought brand new hinges for the door and they come with bolts and nuts but I don't know how to get the old hinges off the truck are they welded on? Do you have to grind them off? There is no bolts nothing unless it's behind the dash.

Honestly, I had just tried this, put a socket between the hinge on the door, and use the door as leverage, that for so much better results then using a porta power

got it at my local napa store, they can mix paint, not all stores do it, but a lot do
