How to fix a 350Z seat switch with fish tank tubing

For the past few years the seat in my 350z hasn't moved and it was just a tiny bit uncomfortable for me, but otherwise I didn't car much about it.
However one day I made the decision to take it out and see if I could fix the problem. Turns out it was small mechanical problem nissan made. This could be one of those parts they purposely make go out early so you'll pay them down the road, but with some fish tank tubing it was a really easy fix.

You're a genius. It worked! By the way you don't have to disconnect and reconnect the wiring you can just move the seat on its side and get in the passenger seat to work on the switch.

You're the man! Guy knocked off $500 on my newly acquired 350Z today because the seat back would only recline and not come back up. I used several layers of heat shrink as I didn't have any plastic tubing and it now works perfectly. Hardest part was getting the damned switch apart. Thanks!

Thanks for this video it worked out great for my son's 2003 Nissan 350z driver's seat recline control switch. This video saved me from having to purchase a new very overpriced switch we're talking more than $100.00 dollars.

I fixed with alcohol and compressed air. I think dust and dirt gets into the switch and it doesnt make good contact anymore. cleaning those contacts makes a better connection. I poured a small amount of alcohol on each switch and blew out the switch working the switch back and forth and after about 5 minutes it started working.

So u were right bout the switch not hven enough contact surface to move the terminals! Cuz I took the plastic housing off, to move the nobs with out the switch button, an the switch dose wrk, an I can move my seat now 💺! Oh yeah🥳 🎉 👏👍👌😎

Ok, thanks for the video. I know it works, even though i did not take my switch or seats out. I have to hard press for one of my seating positions. But i guarantee its the switch levers. Thanks homie

Yeah I have the same problem, once you remove the other 3 bolts I found the bolt nearest to gear lever side was hard to get out but doesn't necessarily need to be removed, just raise seat up to further undo the bolt. I have seen elsewhere to gently tap the (tilt & fwd/back.) motors, I've been told they also stick. I ran out of time on this day with no luck of quick fixing but will have another go with your method soon. By the way, what's the diameter of that tubing?

Cool video. I have this problem but I need to pull the seat out and see if it’s the plastic piece like this. It was working fine then started to be kinda intermittent before it finally just quit working. I doubt it’s the motor. Thanks for saying the bolt size. How hard is it to pull out? I’m not a mechanic kind of guy by any stretch.
