Great info. I've used these methods before myself. One thing that I've found helps with alignment is to use a steel wire to help with groove alignment, and clamp that into the key machine. You'll need to use the same wire on the key blank being duplicated to account for any angle added by the wire. It helps keep things on the proper plane. Thanks for showing us how to get to #Lockboss level!

You could put key part(s) in Framon II machine (power OFF) and take some accurate readings of cut depths in reference to some high cut or uncut part and do some math to arrive at as many depth codes as possible. Perhaps easier than trying to use calipers; anyway just a thought here.

For broken car keys I always decode the entire key and cut by code. Keys generally snap for a reason and most times it's a worn clicky key that doesn't easily turn. A code cut key stops the issue happening again.

So... why not just measure the cuts and cut a new key? The fastest scenario is if you can tip stop the broken key and just dupe it (like your first example) but if not, I think measuring and cutting on a code machine would turn out the most accurate copy with no margin of error. #lockboss

When doing this all I can say is patience. You can not duplicate it like a normal key it will kick it took me about 15-20 different keys to really get good at it. We also had a guy that could just look at a key and he would go to the code max and just cut it by code. I'm not that skilled though 🤣 #Locksboss
@josephstein69492 жыл бұрын
Could you imagine trying to #lockboss that 30 years ago without the benefit of computerized code lookup and database tricks that make it easy to decode as much of the key as you can and get the rest of the cuts to make a good key again?
