You, sir, are a genius. You just saved me $50 on my drill battery. I didn't have a second battery, so I used a 9V battery, connected it to my "dead" 12V for a few minutes. I was skeptical, as it didn't look like anything was happening. Put the old battery in the charger, and it's charging perfectly. Thank you! I'm canceling my order for a brand new drill, so I guess you saved me more than that.

Far out, both my Triton 18V batteries stopped charging over the last 2 days. Just tried this by wiring directly to the DC charger plug, bypassing the charging unit that attaches to the battery. The transformer had the pin polarity on the label which was handy. Left it to reach 18V, which took about 5 minutes each and plugged the charging unit in and it started charging. EXCELLENT TRICK and it actually works. My batteries are now charging. Love your work!!!

First, when I saw that video I thought it was a JOKE. A couple month ago I bought used DeWalt drill and impact drill from thrift store without batteries for $5.00 plus tax of course. And then I went to the local recycling place for something else and saw a full bucket of DeWalt batteries, I asked the workers if I can have a couple of them? they said help yourself for free. Then I brought those batteries home and of course, they are dead. Last Saturday I put them on the table to take them back but forgot to do that, lucky me. Tonight I saw your video and thought here is another scam, but let me try. And now I'm shocked! They work like new. Thanks BROTHER for your great video and your help to save my money cause now I have set of DeWalt for $5.00 (plus tax) . Thanks again.

@stuartsjalund69123 жыл бұрын
It is simple: recharging any batteries requires about 20% higher voltage than stamped on the battery. For a 20 volt battery you are looking at least 24 volt to recharge. Add a amp meter to keep an eye on current draw with a suitable resistor added. One can always recharge at a 10% amp/hr stamped on the battery. Only when there is heat dissipated by the battery is any battery fully charged; the chemical reaction is stopped and excess power delivered into the battery is dumped as heat. Do not get stupid by forcing too much current through the battery, you could get surprised. For example a 500ma a/hr battery charged at 50ma requires about 12 hours to recharge; [do the arithmetic] ineffeciances are taken into account. The reason why OEM chargers do not work properly is the applied voltage is too low and LED indicator lights do not know when the battery is fully charged: only battery heat is the true indicator. Voltage measured DO NOT indicate a fully charged battery at full or greater than battery terminal voltage. All the above applies to any battery.

Thank you, it worked like a charm! In my case I had just purchased this "TECCPO" drill with two 18V 2A batteries from Amazon. One of the batteries could be fully charged, but the other caused the charger to blink red / green, which meant "faulty" battery. So, I used the good / fully charged battery to "wake up" the faulty one (low charge, about 4V). I just kept the wires on for 15 seconds, since I've seen another similar video where it was suggested to charge by following cycles of that time interval (maybe 15 on, 15 off). After just a *single* cycle, the low charge battery was already at about 14V. And then the charger finally worked with that battery too. 🔋💪🏻🙏🏻

I think if a person didn't have another battery to boost the dead battery pack that they might be able to use a similar voltage dc adapter to pump some DC power into the dead battery pack. It should work as well as a good battery "paper clip" volt dump. Positive to positive and negative to negative as you suggested. Perhaps even a car battery would work as well to dump some volts into the dead battery pack. It would be interesting to see and I think it would work.
@ACountryWayOfLife5 жыл бұрын
That is a great thought. I think you are correct as long as it doesn't burn the cells up.

Isn't the charger DC? It's basically the same principal, even if it's ac. So, obviously they purposely make them depreciate. Their charger bases are pointless for the most part, at this point. To me it seems like the charger should do the same as any other way.
@terrencesauve4 жыл бұрын
@@mentalcase4299 there are IC protection and some logic embedded in any basic DC battery pack charger. Maybe the resistance across the cell pack is out of range or the DC voltage is too low? If it doesn't hold a charge after using this method, then some or many of the cells are shorted.
@paulparrish41963 жыл бұрын
Bear in mind your DC supply will have D C amps as well amps are heat therefore you must determine the amps of the dead battery and be sure not to use a supply that exceeds that number, like a car battery for instance.
