dude - was wracking my brains out trying to fix the bumper in my 2011 and your solution worked like a charm. Very Very appreciative and super smart and clever.

If you don't want the visible hole damage on the face of the bumper, you can drill upward from the underside of the bumper. Instead of using screws to pull the dent, use something like a screwdriver, pry bar, or even a wooden dowel to rub the dent out from the inside after heating. If you make the hole a standard size like 3/8" or 1/2" or 3/4", there are black plastic finishing plugs available at many hardware stores instead of using epoxy. You can reuse the same hole if it ever happens again too. When choosing where to drill, try to work around any metal reinforcements that might be in the way. These bumpers are pretty hollow inside if memory serves though.

It’s super hard to get to, it’s the way the bumper is designed

I did exactly what you did and it almost worked. My dents were a little more knarly than yours. Screws kept ripping out. So I used a drywall toggle bolt and that worked great. Just left with the screw holes.

JD Cars I do appreciate it. I joined a Jeep JK forum a while back and added a post on this, asking for help (before seeing your video). The head moderator on the forum, basically shamed me for caring about stock bumpers (vs. aftermarket armor) and told me to throw it away.

Sometimes if possible you can come in from behind with a 1/4 drive long extension or whatever will fit and as your heating you can push it out and not have any holes.

Awesome ! It worked ... the only difference is I use hot boiling water and slowly pour it then started pulling the screw . Worked perfectly.

Okay, while it might not be flawless its much faster than pulling the whole bumper. My Jeep had a spot like that when I bought it. It didn't bother me but after seeing this I might actually put back in shape. Well done and good explanation of how.

This worked great. As far as the holes. I just heated the area pressed the holes closed. Less work than using the jb weld.

I don't know if it was at the market or what not. but, I noticed just below the fog light on the driver's side a small dent. fog light works fine. will this work for the fine narrow ridges by the fog light or mostly for a larger rounded dent?
@JDCarsChannel5 жыл бұрын
Yes this should work! Maybe use a smaller drill bit and screw than I did.

I’ve had luck with just heating the bumper and then hitting the edges of a dent with a rubber mallet. Sometimes the dent will pop out without the need to use the screw method. I just got a dent today slightly hitting a snow drift so I’ll see if I can repair it with either the rubber mallet or the screw method.

On the Dodge Nitro, you can heat up and just push the dent out from the inside so no screw holes.

Why didn’t you use a suction cup or push it out from the inside
@JDCarsChannel6 жыл бұрын
You can't use a suction cup on a dent this deep. Not to mention it's not possible to suction cup this rough plastic.

Why would you put holes in the bumper? Most bumpers are very easy to remove. Remove the bumper and you can push it out from the back side. No holes.
@tactics26 ай бұрын
Because the bumpers are sealed. You can't get to the dent from the back.
@MrBrianjeep Жыл бұрын
Absolutely no need to use the screws I've had several jeeps wife came in the garage pushed in that same little spot. heat it up either with some boiling water, heat gun ,hair dryer get underneath with a little piece of wood ax handle works great push it out then Whatever shining oil you want it's perfect you do not need screws
@markp2827 Жыл бұрын
I wanted to do this, but my bumper is completely sealed back and bottom. Hmm

Smart solution and actually worked perfectly. Use a small nail to pull and heat after the nail was pulled out, the hole will close/ invisible.
