How to fix a dripping toilet - water leaking inside bowl

It's easier than you might think to fix a leaking toilet. Almost always the leak is from a bad flapper. It takes less than 5 minutes and you don't need any special tools to do it. Don't worry about the water in the tank being dirty. It should be clean. It is certainly not the same as the water in the bowl even though they are close, the water in the tank hasn't been contaminated with sewage.

I've replaced my flapper with a brand new on, but it continues to leak because the flapper edges on both the old and the new are not flopping into the right spot to seal the tank. There is always and edge that has a gap, and an edge that is massively overlapped, It's not always the same edge, how do I get the flapper to land right so that it seals all the way around?

Mine is leaking as in the video,making a trickling sound into the toilet… is it possible it’s the ball float that’s not shutting off the water off enough, or not getting Hugh enough, so it trickle overflows and goes into the overflow tube which would then trickle into the toilet? How would ok e adjust this?

Any ideas what could be wrong even with a new flapper? I did the dye test in the tank and it's still coming into the bowl. Not sure if the fluidmaster ones are just crap or what 😞

Did you end up getting another new flapper? I think fluidmaster may just be crap. Purchased new kits to have on hand a year or two ago. Just installed two as regular maintenance and both leak tank to bowl.

@@StupidRalph No, turns out the flapper wasn't actually the problem (and yes, the fluidmaster is fine). Whoever installed the toilet and parts took that hose and anchored it too far down into that white cylinder. For whatever reason, that was causing a slow drip to run around the clock because of a siphoning issue... can't really explain how the siphoning took place but simply pulling the hose back towards the top of the cylinder thing fixed the entire issue.
