On this model you press down on the red lever twice. The second “press” will release the dirt cup.

After going to Dyson repair centre here in the UK to find out they are out of stock AND it is a very common problem , I did exactly the same . Good old super glue . Not bad thinking for a 70yr old woman on here own. Saved a lot of money too . Just hope it lasts !!

Correct because it cannot be fixed. You have to replace the part to fix the problem.

Just watch a video where the Guy actually replaced the used ring back in by unscrewing the larger ring and just placing it back. He did not have to buy anything new, he just needed a special screwdriver to get that dark grey plastic piece off so you might want to refer people over to his video instead of watching yours where they need to buy something more and spend even more money on their expensive vacuum cleaner.

This lady is correct, the rings , grey plastic have tabs that are broken, replacement is the only way to fix this period.
