So happy that your channel came up on my feed! I was wondering how you find your schematics and how you view them. I'm new to a lot of this but am determined to flash some bios!

Hey the software that i use is called "Boardviewer" and i mostly google the shematics by using the name of the Mainboard (MSI for Examble uses MS-XXXX as Boardnummbers) and then shematic behind.

Repaired my x470 aorus ultra using the same device but used the clip method. Took me 10 mins to restore both the main bios and the backup one. Much easier to use the clip. No soldering needed

An EZP2019+ V2 is also very cheap and it has adapters for 1,8V. Does have erase function, auto (erase, program and verify) and has auto identification of the chip that's usually working great. Anyway well explained. Congratulations. If the programming and verification is not successful, mostly it is because the chip itself is damaged and needs to be replaced then reprogrammed.

Ive seen this one used by quiet some technicians, but i am looking for one that is a lot faster to programm, because these cheap programmers always take like 15 Minutes to Read, erase programm and verify. But i might still get that one as a cheap replacement for my cheap CH341A. Thank you very much!

I received a board from Amazon that was a return (warehouse deal) and had the same issue. I do have the CH431 with the crocodile clamp, but no Windows laptop to reprogram it. So I shipped as RMA to MSI, not really expecting to hear anything. Amazon had returned my money to a gift card, so the board was basically free. MSI send me a brand-new board back, in their white RMA box. But repairing bios is almost always successful. I used to do this on the older MacBooks to get rid of a forgotten password. But since they started with their stupid T2 and motherboards with their TPM, I have given up on repairing. I am subscribing, could be the start of a excellent channel. Frohes Weihnachten from Canada.

Good video. About 20 months ago my friend messed up is BIOS during an update, he was just about to buy a new Mainboard but I told him to bring it to my house with so that we can play with it. I personally play around the CH341 programmers when programming ESP IOT devices with my own code. Anyway I managed to fix his BIOS by downloading his mainboard BIOS from the manufactures website (MSI) then using my 8 pin chip clip/gripper (no heat gun or soldering needed). Anyway I flashed his mainboard BIOS and was totally surprised that it worked and saved my friend about £150 to £175 for a new mainboard. Even though I do own a duel soldering station, when programming ESP devices on boards, I personally always just leave the chips on the boards as the chip clip/gripper works perfect. Maybe I was just lucky in this case. I don't repair mainboards (I just tinker with everything electrical) apart from fixing my friends mainboard BIOS, I've also replaced 7 bulged capacitors on my sisters ASUS mainboard a couple of years ago.

I want to know If I can also use a programmer like the CH41A. I bricked my b350m pro-vdh today and want to fix it myself but before that I'll need to buy myself a good programmer so whats your recommentation?
@MainboardMedic
@MainboardMedic 9 ай бұрын
There are many different ones. The CH41A is just the cheapest one to get. Preety much all off them are usable. You could also just use an Arduino to do it. The only really good one i know cost about 120€.

A very good guide on how to destroy your DMI Information of your board containing the serialnumber, mac adresses for all of your network devices and a maybe present efi marker containing the windows key! Good luck explaining to the customer, that your simple "fix" might cost him twice the price for that MoBo in additional hardware and software, once he tries to use his old operating system and tries to connect to a LAN or go online... Using two soldering irons with proper soldering tips (type K, but can be done with smaller ones just as easy) would desolder your chip in a spit of the time, you needed to heat it up using hot air. That would prevent the possible destruction of the chip due to overheting. Even with 320 celsius set on your 861DW one can get that chip off in half the time by using circular movements around the chip, instead of roasting its core! Using some additional flux (even the simplest rosin+IPA solution) and cleaning + tinning your soldering tip, would not only make your "soldering joints" become some real ones instead of cold contacts you got there, that might become non conductive soon, but prevent your hardware (read soldering tip) from getting damaged even more or even get destroyed. To start to understand, what a modern bios (uefi) file is made of and which information it contains in what block, tools like uefitool (guthub), aptio (ami bios official website), phoenixtools (github, one can get redirected there from the official phoenix bios website after some digging there) and other tools for e.g. insyde bios, intel ME tools etc. can be used. Some of the tools are free or even open souce, others will cost you money, and some you will most likely never get, since those are getting developed by companies or private persons for a very limited circle of companies or persons. DMI block can be found and copied or at least set properly using any free HEX editor on the planet. Even the one in your programmer software can be used, but it has a very slow search algorithm. Hope it will prevent you from making bios bricked motherboards a oartially destroyed ones by "fixing" it in the future...

I do have to agree to you about the BIOS missing quiet some information compared to the old Bios that was in place originally. There is still things i need to learn about the Bios and its properties.
@neovita3818
@neovita3818 Жыл бұрын
@@MainboardMedic Always, i repeat, ALWAYS back even the bricked bios up, once you read it from the chip. ALWAYS run a verification of what you read and later wrote from and to the chip, if your software is not doing that by default. By having a backup of the original content (even briked one), it is still possible to repair the piece of hardware properly later. Once deleted, that information is gone forever. Do yourself a huge favor and stop relying on boardview to find the necessary information about your chip, like operating voltage ranges etc. Datasheet is what you want to use instead! Winbond chips with Q letter at the end of its model number do need the quad (bidirectional) programming method for example. Otherwise the chip will not contain the correct information after writing and verification will result in a configuration warning, which is BAD, even if the board seems to boot after that!!! Some programmers (not yours) can detect that and use bidirectional write method by default. Using yours you have to dig into the settings to set the necessary flag. Boardview can't show you such important informations. And most important: Do not call your fixes "Reparaturen", Gewährleistung und Haftung lassen grüßen ;-) Gewöhne dir den Begriff Wiederherstellung (Refurbishing) an
@MainboardMedic
@MainboardMedic Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback. Is there a programmer you could recommend to me? That for example does do the bidirectional programming? Cheers.

@MainboardMedic
