I’m about to buy a 2006 dr650 tomorrow. It doesn’t start and leaks oil. Thank you for this video, now I know how I’m going to diagnose it to get it running again!

Great video, this is how videos should be done, one video with multiple steps that could help with a number of issues. Thanks

Yeah there were a few guys back in the day that I learned from so it's time to pay the favor forward. Glad it helped.

You should also check and clean the small filter in the fuel inlet pipe on the carb.

@@michaelhefford6420 oh good call. I even forget to check that little filter.👍🏼

Very informative video, thanks. I’ve had this 2005 for 6 months with no issues but all of a sudden my bike wouldn’t start. Battery is completely fine. I’m about to replace the spark plugs. Hopefully it’s not carb.

Do the pilot jets just get tightened all the way down or is it two turns out? I’m not sure if mine is air idle screw or pilot jet on an ex500. Assuming it’s air idle that is exposed on the bottom of the carb
@jamesgaszak3685Ай бұрын
@@KollynJ I start with 1 1/2 turns out then go an 1/8th of a turn each way after riding it about a mile to see if it's better or worse.
@KollynJАй бұрын
@@jamesgaszak3685 ok. Your pilots are located on the inside? I believe mine are accessible from the outside
@rodsreel4 күн бұрын
The pilot jet inside the carb does get seated all the way down - gently. The air fuel mixture screw normally gets screwd all the way in then out about 1 1/2 turns then adjusted half a turn either way. If you have your pilot jet out read to see what size it is. It should be standard. the main jet is worth reading also.Some bikers change the jets far too much away from stock.
@jamesgaszak36854 күн бұрын
@@KollynJ the pilot jet is inside the carb bowl. The air idle screw is usually outside the bowl where it can be easily accessed. The pilot jet gets seated fully. The air idle screw usually gets seated then turned out 1.5 to 2 turns.
