I would always clean everything really well, small amounts of debris can cause the o-ring to sit wrong in the channel .

I installed brand new ARB lockers in my 40 and the front one leaked within 90 miles of travel and engaging it 3 times. Not impressed after spending some very hard earned dollars on them.

That is a great video, I have an 80 series with pre installed ARB air lockers that the front one has failed by passing into the diff housing I have tracked down the previous owners and have been told they are Generation (1) and that the seals are no longer available ??? unsure if all the information I have prior to removal at this point, Where yours Gen 1 or 2 or the latest's being 3's Cheers Murray Clontarf QLD 4019

My compressor comes on every so often, does that mean a really pissy leak ? Or just how they work?

It will usually top up every few minutes or so that its engaged, if it is activating the compressor every 30 seconds or even more often then there is more than likely a leak somewhere. You can use soapy water in a spray bottle to spray over all of the air lines to check for leaks, the leaks will bubble with the soapy solution.

you won't have to worry for long, the ARB compressor will soon fail - it's all crap!

Good video but the lockers are of a poor design. I’ve had 2 front and 3 rear air ring failures. The 4th failure on the rear was catastrophic as a crown wheel bolt FELL OUT!!!! and destroyed the diff and housing and most of the internals and they’ve only done 85,000kms since being fitted on a brand new Hilux . The bolts are glued in as they’ve done away with the locking tabs, I’ve looked around the internet and the bolts falling out or shearing off isn’t uncommon either. There are claims that the diffs aren’t made in Australia as advertised but are made in Taiwan (China) and assembled in Melbourne. I get my car back on Friday and I’m off to Tjm to get them ripped out and pro lockers fitted as I now have reliability issues with this car and I’m hard pressed finding negative feedback on tjms lockers. I travel long distances and don’t want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere waiting to get my car towed away and be repaired. One mechanic on the net has quoted “expect problems at around 40,000kms and he’s right on the money. Most of my failures are every 20,000kms and the last one was 45,000 kms. Ps tighten the crown wheel bolts every 30,000kms as you don’t want em doing what they did to me...it’s friggin costly. Good luck

Damn, that's crazy. Seems to me like installation error. Especially if you've had that many fail. I've been running my ARB's for around a decade and only recently have I had any issue. My front O-rings wore out but, it was most likely due to the diff cover loosening up and losing all it's oil. Didn't have a problem until after that.

I've had front and rear ARB lockers in my bronco for almost 20 years. Barley started leaking. You probably had a yahoo install your stuff. You get what you pay for.

As far as I have researched, this is a common problem with ARB air lockers. Thanks for your elaborate explanation. Yes, it may not have failed for some, but there are many complaints. Definitely, it is not a set and forget install.
