Mark, I started to pull my Sears washer apart and oil came out. I came in the house to find a KZbin video but my internet was down. I got my internet problem fixed today and watched both Pt1 & pt2. Thanks for posting your repair procedure. I'll have to look at the parts breakdown to see where my unloader is. I did buy an o-ring kit as water was leaking out the housing but I've had intermittant pressure problems with my unit until it just about quit like your video, thanks again/Mike

This was great info. I bought a Karcher at a yard sale for $20. When I powered it up, I discovered that the pressure was very low. So I put it in my shed and basically forgot about it. That was 7 or 8 years ago. Last week, I followed the instructions in this video and now have a perfectly working washer. All for 20 bucks!

The demonstration was well done. It probably will save me a lot of money. There were two items I did catch you talk about. One is the gaskets that go between the major component as they go back together. The second is; what type of oil to use? Does the pump require a specific oil like the air compressors?

This is an incredible video ... Every detail clearly outlined, with advice along the way including proper lubricants to use with clarification of why the portions of the disassembly and reassembly is being performed. I have this power washer and already had replaced the loader valve, but did so without the pump removal. I found getting the valve out easiest by simply giving the pump a crank after removing the housing holding it in place. It pops out after pulling the cord once our twice. My problem right now is that the detergent suction doesn't work. I'm going tio carefully take it apart, and inspect the o-ring, spring, gaskets and check valve. I think possibly only lubrication and cleaning is needed ... But if that doesn't do it, I'll order the kit. Awesome video! Thank you for your time and expertise! Rick

Thank you for posting this video, I had a problem with my pressure washer pump, I cleaned all of my valves, but did not know that the "re-loader valve" was a part that commonly fails, so I will inspect and replace that, if needed, ASAP. Excellent instructional video. I have a Coleman Powermate 2650 with an AR North America RMV25G30D pump. I noticed recently after I had used it to pressure wash a friends house that after three hours the pump lost pressure near the end of the job. The motor runs fine, but when the trigger on the wand is pressed there is no pressure, just average flowing water. I checked all the valves and O-rings that are easy to get to without opening up the pump exposing the pistons. I didn't notice any wear or damage on any of those parts. I then took the unloader off (part #AR42118) and disassembled it. I didn't notice any damage but did clean it and used some vasoline to lubricate the O-rings since I had read that on another site. I reassembled everything and then tested it. At the start of the pressure washer it continued to have no pressure and so I continued to press the trigger on and off and after about 30 seconds it started working correctly again. It did this a few times and then it went right back to having no pressure. Any expert advice?? I noticed you used plumbers grease, would that make a big difference? Also I did not remove the separate small o-ring and bearing at the bottom of the unloader since it was hard to remove down inside the pump. Would it make any difference to take that part out too? Any assistance would be so greatly appreciated. I just didn't want to waste $40 on a new unloader if I could salvage this one. Thanks again.
@FIXTechGuides9 жыл бұрын
+Rodney Dozier If, as you say, there is no corrosion in the cylinders or other parts of the pump, My next suspicion would be the unloader. Even though is looks clean, that would be where I would go next. As far as the vasoline versus a different lubricant for the O-rings, they should all work in a similar fashion. You just need lubrication to help protect the seals and O-rings.

@PGXI The unloader occasionally becomes a bit corroded and can be a real chore to remove. The only real advice I have is to use a pair of needle nose pliers that have a very aggressive tooth on them. A few months back I purchased a pair of Snap-On pliers that have their Talon jaws on them. Basically it is a cross-hatch tooth pattern. They seem to really grip the tab on the unloader valves well. I hope this helps! -Mark

Outstanding video tutorial. Exactly what I needed to fix my problem. I have two comments that may help out other viewers. I could not for the life of me get the unloader valve out of the housing with needle nose pliers or even needle nose vise grips. It just would NOT pull out. There is a much easier way to get it out. HOW TO REMOVE A STUBBORN UNLOADER VALVE: Before removing the pump from the engine, unscrew and remove the white plastic housing from above the unloader valve. Lay a towel over the opening of the unloader valve. With the garden hose hooked up to the pressure washer, turn on the water. Start the engine. The water pressure will blow the unloader valve out of the its housing. The towel is there to stop the unloader valve from flying up and slamming into the cart frame. It works like a champ and will save you hours of cursing your needle nose pliers like I did. WHAT TYPE OF OIL TO USE IN THE PUMP The video does not mention what type of oil to use. My pressure washer is the same model as the one in the video: Karcher K2400HH. It uses Karcher 15W40 (Part # 6.288-050.0) but you can use any Non-Detergent Non-foaming 15w40 Pump Oil. I hope this helps others. Again, outstanding job on the video.

@773cat No. I have a Craftsman 580 pressure washer too. Just pull the handle on the wand to relieve the back pressure and that should allow you to pull the start cord until you get it started. Now I have a low pressure problem like the technician demonstrated in this video, so I'm off to tear down my pump! Good luck!

@dougostey The primary part that was replaced was the Unloader valve. It is what was causing the no pressure condition. Occasionally you will need to replace some of the other o-rings. The valves can become pitted and need replacing but that is very rare. As a general rule when rebuilding a pump with a no pressure condition like the one shown you will need a new unloader valve, some Teflon and silicon grease and some 30wt non-detergent oil for the pump. Thanks for watching! -Mark

working on a Karchr HDS 801 B. Company owned, so its abused not maintained. Anyways, recently brought it back to life by cleaning the pump and replacing a pressure switch. Ran about 400 gallons through it when the water flow stopped. Had steam coming out the wand. Went back to thewasher and before I coulddiagnose anything, the safety valve popped off so I shut it down. I did notice the safety valve was extremely hot. Checked for any clogs in the water system and seemed clear. Removed safety valve, disassembled and appeared to be some melted plastic around a plunger shaft in the main valve body. That's where I'm at at this point.

In found one of these pressure washers partially disassembled on the side of the road. All the parts were there though. I watched your video, and set about to clean, and reassemble the pump so I could see what the problem was. As I was reassembling it, I was looking at the way the parts fit together, and it just didn't look right go me. The way the spacers sit in the piston guide shaft allows them to push in, and potentially bind. So I set out to find some assembly diagrams for the washer. I found exploded diagrams for the pump on your ereplacement parts website. According to the diagrams, the piston seals seat in the deep side below the spacers. In my mind, that would explain why there is so much space below the plastic spacer. I plan to take it back apart to straighten out the piston seals according to the diagram. Below is a link to the diagrams, and replacement parts. www.ereplacementparts.com/karcher-2650-11945130-pressure-washer-parts-c-33388_33389_34000.html

Don't forget to check your tip before tearing your pump apart too. For the one I found, the lack of spray was a rust clogged tip. The back pressure was tripping the unloader. It was as simple as putting it back together, and changing the tip.
@IamRedeu9 жыл бұрын
Okay. The first time I assembled it per your video placing the seals in the same location as you do in the video. This is incorrect placement. The pump did indeed pressurize the water, but the missing seals allowed all of the oil to leak out onto the concrete slab it was sitting on. I now have a stain to scrub out of the concrete, and wasted several dollars worth of fresh oil. When you have the pump apart, the seals need to go on the piston half of the pump inside the deep holes beneath the spacers. Otherwise, you'll leak out your oil, and be running the pistons dry. Please correct your video to show the parts being placed in the correct location. I watched the video several times now, and you are absolutely putting them in the wrong spot in the video.
