You'll get cotton fibers tangles in the rollers. Good luck getting those all out without a full disassembly.

I dunno what effect this has on the disc but I just rubbed isopropyl alcohol all over the reading surface of the disc (not too wet but slightly more than you'd think you probably should be putting in your ps4, trust me tho it worked for me) and put it in. Took two goes but I managed it. I think the first time was just softening things up and the second actually took care of the issue. Hope my way helps anybody the q-tip method didnt work for (like myself, I thought I was a goner until I did it my way.)

Realistically we shouldn't have to do this. The disc drive of the ps4 is a huge hassle compared to the ps3 and ps2.

Thanks, I read the same thing on the web, but it's nice to see a video. At first I did it with the unit off, which is not how you do it. My disc drive works pretty well now. But it took probably 20 Q tips to get to that point.

@ǤαMe๖ۣۜRX 99 No, especially the oil! I know this is a 3 month late reply but! The disc rollers have a natural stickiness to them, which is how it grips the discs to pull them in, and push them out. Oil will probably just make the rollers slippery, and most likely ruin them completely. I really hope you didn’t use oil :(

@ǤαMe๖ۣۜRX 99 and it is a little risky doing it this way. The safest way to clean the rollers is by taking the PS4 apart. It will void the warranty (if you still somehow have one at this point), but cleaning the rollers by just sticking a q-tip into the disc slot can actually damage the rollers and such permanently. But not always. Better safe than sorry, though!

It took 3 qtips and a decent amount of 9 year over expired rubbing alcohol to fix it my PS4 was nearing 4 and a quarter years old and has not been cleaned once but now she works like a charm thanks man.

if it also comes in a little slower than usual, it can lead to the roller (disk drive i think its called) to break, well snap off, definitely get that checked out real quick.

Future advise when you have a device and you're trying to clean it don't have it on specially if you're putting something wet inside of electronic device you can actually get electrocuted if you're not careful or you can cause severe damage to the electronic itself

Pretty easy fix. Open the console and you should inspect the rollers, middle white part must have come off.
