#1 Display configuration was modified accidentally

How to Fix a Stretched Screen Display Issue on Windows 10?
Method 1: Check Display Settings
Step 1 - Right-click on the desktop anywhere and click “Display Settings”
Step 2 - In the opened window, click “Advanced Display Settings”.
Step 3 - You’ll be prompted to the Advanced Display Settings window. Here, click the drop-down menu to choose the recommended screen resolution.
Method 2: Update the Graphics/Display Drivers
Step 1 - Press “Windows+X” on your keyboard and click “Device Manager” from the popped-up menu.
Step 2 - Expand the “Display Adaptor” option and right-click the specific driver that you want to update.
Step 3 - Then click the “Update Driver” button and select “Choose Drivers Automatically” on the next screen.
Method 3: Install Windows Updates
Step 1 - Click the “Start” button and tap the “Settings” icon to open the settings window.
Step 2 - Click “Update & Security” and select “Windows Update” from the left menubar. Then, click the “Check for Updates” button and let your PC automatically look for Windows updates.
Step 3 - If there are any pending updates, make sure to download and install them instantly.

My dad's PC has a shader model 2 Nvidia GPU and some of the resolutions are read incorrectly by the monitor. E.g 1600 900 is read as 1680 1050. The strange thing is, 800 600 and 1024 768 are read correctly but are stretched out to 16:9 instead of 4:3

I installed new drivers with Driver Booster, after the reinstall the screen is upscaled to 1366x768 from 1024x768 and in the Display settings I cant change the resolution. First I try to update the Display Driver in the Device manager and it doesent work. After this I installed a older driver manually. My stretched out screen happened just after the Welcome window filter disappeared. That's what I ended up doing is updating my Windows to fix the stretch error and it is now fixed. In fact I downloaded and installed the most recent version of Windows. But the filter is back on the Welcome screen. Hate that filter. You made a firm believer of me. Help! I have massive stretched screen, but it’s due to resolution setting. I was trying to make screen smaller and did it the reverse way. Now content is so big it’s unusable. I see several ways to go into settings to fix, but problem is I can’t get to it. The sixe is so big it won’t let me scroll or use arrows to get past the screen to click on anything so I can’t open settings. Is there another option and if I have to reset that’s fine, but can ir be done if I can’t maneuver to any place where I might do. This?

Hi there, thank you for your question! Press the Win + R key that'll open the run dialog you should be able to type "ms-settings:display" and hit enter this should take you straight to the display settings hopefully you can adjust the resolution from there.

Computer no longer gives the 1920 choice for resolution. it has been fine for several years. I tried it on another computer and it shows the 1920 choice. Only goes up to 1600. Driver is updated and still no luck. Thanks

FOR CLARIFICATION FOR EVERYONE HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS. the fix i found was to do what was in the video. BUT THEN remove the cable and swap it to a different video port/hdmi port and then go into settings and it will now have the option to change resolution again.
