Helpful, i need to try this for getting a signal for live streams! Bit of a correction though - the hZ isn't relating to the amount of frames per second, it's the refresh rate of the monitor and directly relates to electricity. If you're in the UK it should be 50hZ as electricity is 50 cycles per second, for the us it's 60hZ. You're thinking of frame rate when you speak about how many images you see per second, but that's nothing to do with the listed screen resolutions!

The refresh rate of the monitor no longer relates to the electricity anymore, since LCD panels, almost all monitors run at 60hz regardless if youre in 50 or 60 hz power area.

After trying to fix the jagged fonts on my external TV for a day, this video did the trick! Changed mine to 1080p 50Hz and it helped smooth out the font. Thanks!

Hi, I stumble upon this video. Glad I did. I have a query, can you help please. I had same monitor setup few months ago ( means old samsung monitor clubbed with1080p AOC monitor ). I bought a hdmi cable to VGA cable to connect old monitor . It worked for sometime but after two months it stopped working suddenly. Abd now whenever I connect old monitor with my new desktop set-up with 1080p monitor. Nothing shows on my old monitor ( not even logo, just a text," no signal") as it does not show as second monitor now in settings also. What to do? What could be the problem? Can you suggest and provide solution.

Hi thanks man for showing how to configure the setting from 1080i to 1080p. Anyway, I found my grainy tv had been already set to 1080p. It's all grainy. Texts were horrible, it was grainy and even bluish, greenish, reddish when it should be just clear black or white. Strangely, when I switched it to 1920 by 1080 True Colour (32 bit) 30 Hertz (interlaced), it became clearer than ever before. Still images are sharp and sleek now. However, moving parts--like when you move window--are blurry. I wonder if you ever heard of this issue before and know ho to deal with it. Thanks in advance, mate.

Fishing for some free advice that I can't locate anywhere on the internet. I have a large toshiba monitor that is displaying from my asus laptop. Movies look great, Photoshop is fine, but pictures on webpages and my desktop display are really really chunky. The highest resolution my asus can display is 1366x 768. Is that not high enough?
