Great video, thank you. Very tight editing which most viewers appreciate. Too many well meaning KZbinrs produce 15 minute videos when 5-6 minutes would suffice and hold everyone's attention.

Thank you! I have a similar trimmer and just needed a rough guide as to the inner workings.

I rescued one of these from the "free" shed in my local community...the cord was dangling out but everything moved freely. The recoil spring in the one I found seems intact but maybe just isn't strong enough. Thanks for your video!!

I used your video to take mt Troy built trimmer apart. I thought maybe the spring in mine was shot because when I pulled on the cord it did not start the trimmer. I bought the cowell kit for $35 because I really didn't know what to expect when I got inside. Both the new and old Cowell pull similar though the spring is different than the new one. Your instructions worked overall.

This is a great video.. I own one of these machines... It is a frustrating and underpowered machine.. It sure shouldn't be as complicated as it is to replace the pull cord.. I don't know how many pull cords I've replaced -- Many --10+ .. I'm generally very handy at least = I have all the right tools and understand stuff like weedeater repair.. The Toro weedeater that isn't too expensive comes with extra built in functional obsolescence.. I just wanted to replace the broken string - I didn't want to know all about the trivial innerworkings of the whole machine... Just the stuuupiiid pullcord...... Thanks

Here's a hint, remove the plug and insert some cord in there leaving a little bit hanging out, instead of risking breaking a fan blade.

Kudos to you mike s. My thoughts exactly. Came off easily by inseting small flatheadin through top of housing and prying.

Ive used mine about 10 times and and the spring mech broke. What a an inferior piece of equiptment. My solution is to trash it and, never buy anything craftsman again. Im going down to the Stilh Dealer and getting a supreme piece of machinery.
@HowToLou7 жыл бұрын
+maria zupan - you know, man. I can't argue with that. I have a Stihl leaf blower and it just works.

These machines are complete garbage. I would NEVER buy this crap BUT I have a deal that gets me free laundry for trade on repair work of all sorts. This brings one of these into my shop and I am tempted to buy a used, but quality built (NOT "BILT"!!) trimmer so I no longer have to work on this POS. Good video anyway-very good.
@HowToLou7 жыл бұрын
+howardtoob - I tend to agree with you. Since this video, the darn thing quit working for some other reason. I got a 40 V electric string trimmer, and I am very happy with it. I swear that thing is as strong as gas.
@howardtoob7 жыл бұрын
Good move. I did the cord today and it was a total PIA. Feeding the end of the rope into the recoil was so difficult and took me forever. I was so pissed off I really wanted to take the entire unit and smash it on the ground. Garbage
