Great video will help me do mine. Someone in the past made my hole bigger to replace pump. What I learnt from else where was 1) to take out fuel pump fuse and try starting a few times to release pressure from fuel line and 2) use little vacuum cleaner and rag to clean area before undoing the fuel pump/ sensor bracket. So bits can’t fall into tank.

Hey codes and coffee. I have a Hyundai i20 2010 model and have fuel gauge problem, not giving correct fuel reading. I took it to Hyundai and they told me I need to change the instrument cluster, which too expensive to replace. Everything on my cluster works , I just want to know is such a problem fixable or do I need a new one?

I did not see how you got power to the pump and sender and you have a repeat in your video. I did see you had a bent pin at the end that kept the pump from working. Glad you finally got it working. Could you have just replaced the sender? The old pump seemed to be pumping OK.

Hey Cristian Estrada Thanks for your Feedback! Sure thing! Sorry to hear about your accident, hopefully our recovery. Usually when cars are t-bonded, especially on the side where your gas tank and Gas Fill are located, issues can happen with lines, sensor readings, fuel filters, fuel pumps, fuses, relays and more,... so I’ll give you a few tips. Ok, So gauge readings are very tricky! And can lead you a stray. The gauge needle can simply just be stuck in the Full position, Empty position, or anywhere in between. Remember to always start with the basics! If you’re up to it, safely check the following: Fuses Relays Then possibly The Whole dash cluster Gauge readings are very sneaky. They get stuck, stick, and can lose calibration (especially after a car accident) and to diagnose the issue, you will 90% of the time - think the worst, when your issue can be as easy as replacing your “Whole 2003 Mazda 3 Cluster” Go to Google.com and Search >> 2003 Mazda 3 cluster

Do you have any hints how to check when fuel gauge stays on empty other than replacing the whole fuel pump on a 93 Ford Ranger, I have looked everywhere and cant find anything except for on 94's

Hey Theangellace for your Feedback, now 90% of root cause for a faulty fuel gauge reading would be fuel pump/fuel pump float,guts either electronically or mechanically. If you have the time & patience you can fix the parts on the pump causing the issue. Now the other 10% of the problem would be wiring from pump to the actual unit in the dash board, fuses, relays and ultimately out can try caging you Whole dashboard odometer cluster itself. We have run into a vehicle(s) that have stuck needles within the cluster itself. Thanks again, pleas leave us a LIKE & SUBB if our video was able to help. So the new pump was a good one by airtex but just a little difficult to plug in..I'm getting ready to order a fule pump for my dakota from airtex ..I hope their good quality..please let me know if that was the case..the end of video wasn't very clear..thanks for sharing the video an thanks in advance for responding.

Gypsie Seagul Thabks for your FeedBack, I’ve heard of Airtex aftermarket parts and pumps they have decent products, however all manufacturers vary wildly. I’ve had customers satisfied and dissatisfied with Airtex products. So I suggest keeping the original box and receipts just Incase, also make sure all warranty’s and parts are guaranteed Incase of faulty electrical parts, unfortunately it happens! just make sure your investment is protected! Hello. I have a 2003 nissan maxima with the fuel gauge not working right. When I fill up the tank it does go up to the top. However after driven some miles the needle on the dashboard decreases but only up to the half tank position. It does not pass half thank even after I have reached the miles that I normally get with a full tank. I have replaced the whole fuel sending unit in the tank but I'm still getting the same problem. What could be the problem??

if he can identfy the two leads going to the gauge and place 100 ohm res.it would have told him the pump was not the problem i think the gauge will read about half full with this test if the gauge is ok

Was the fuel pump module bench tested? The Spec is 180ohms empty to 10 ohms Full. If the sending unit passed bench test, what is the next diagnosis with the dash cluster, assuming pins 12 and 25 on the dash cluster read the same as the terminals on the pump?

I don't think my envoy has that access. When changed it on my Tahoe I had to empty the tank and drop it then slide it out to change it then put back. Not a problem just time comsumming. Now my envoy always say I have no gas and even beeps for it after adding $40 to it.

Why did you not use a wire brush to clean all the rust off it would of been a lot easier. They have hand ones and some that you can use with a drill. Just trying to help :-)

theangellace great advice, however did you mean using a wire brush on the fuel pump or the locking ring?!? I’m going to guess you meant the locking ring. The ring is Veryyyyy Temperamental and the one we had was so rusted, we had to use both the fire and grinder to get it were we needed it. A wired brush would have been great and easier to use on a locking ring that was less rusty. If you were taking about the fuel pump it self, well that’s tricky and risky with fuel present, we didn’t want any sparks or have chunks falling into the tank after piping off the pump. Not to mention while trying to spin the ring with the chizzle and hammer was loosening enough dirt and rocks around that could have fell in as well. It’s never fun working with rusty fuel pump rings. @@CodesandCoffee Yes I was referring to the locking ring, I do agree you don't really know what type to use until you have it in your hand and actually try it to see what will work better,. No I wasn't talking about the fuel pump an inside around the hole that would of been a nightmare trying to keep trash from falling in the tank. I was worried about you chizzling that ring as that could of cause a spark as well but you really had no choice to loosen it up enough to get it out of there.
