super helpful! My controller has a bit different of a plate that goes over the Xbox Light button and the sync button, it wraps over the Xbox Light button so it's a lot harder to remove, but when I was doing a control pad fix before, the sync button had just fallen out after removing the plate cuz I had to remove the top circuit board (or the one underneath the 1st board when you open the controller). Couldn't figure out how to get it in, had been trying to hold it in place while attaching the plate, didnt know there was a little clasp area near the Xbox Light button to hold it in while attaching the plate until 3 hours later when I found this video! Many many thanks!

On my controller, the plastic piece that clicks the button is separate from the bumper bar. I can't figure out how it's supposed to sit against the bumper bar and the plastic piece that goes around the power button.

I am not sure what you are talking about but there is a little hole where the sync button can slide in on the front of the controller near the xbox button. The front plate of the controller need to be remove in order to do so as well as the plastic around on top/around the xbox button

I'm confused by the difficulty in accessing the sync button - if this is the 4th controller being fixed, op should know by now how it all comes apart. When I take apart a controller, I'm removing the sync button cover and bumpers before ever taking apart the motherboard. The cover can be removed easily with your fingers (tweezers not needed), and removing the bumpers works best with the triggers pulled down. The pieces simply snap into place.

You can always try to resolder it but you might need to use jumper wires

I’m pissed because my sync button is permanently jammed pressing down and I can’t even use it by connecting it with my USB cable. The freaking PS4 controller never did this to me neither has any other controller in my entire life. Xbox really dropped the ball in the newer gen crap. I just wanted to make it stop syncing without having to open it or risk breaking more….

The button might be broken and need to be replace. Also, make sure all the pins are solder to the board and that there is no short between pins. You could also try to clean it with IPA but you will need to be lucky for this to fix your problem.

To remove battery acid, you can try to use white vinegar to remove it. Vinegar must stay on the battery acid for a couple of minute in order to remove it. After that remove the most vinegar you can and clean it an other time using isopropyl alcool (IPA). Any part that is damage beyond repair will need to be replace.

If I make no mistake, you are talking about the antenna ? This could make the controller connection difficult wirelessly but it should still work fine if it's connected to your Xbox.

@@RepairResell To work on any device. The orignal 1st model doesnt have bluetooth built in to work on any other bluetooth device. It only work by wired. The sync button is only for the xbox console. Xbox 360 had the same button but cannot connect to any bluetooth device without a wired connection. I want it to work easy. This model 1708 have the same problem. Want it to be like the second model controller that came before the series x controller 2021. 2nd model
