I didn't know what a ballcock was but I knew I had to go find this thing in the toilet tank and replace it. So I found one at the hardware store, read the instructions on back, learned it was called a ballcock, searched for a KZbin video, found yours, and fixed it all by myself. Couldn't have done it without your great "how to" video and saved myself lots of money with no plumber. Many thanks.

Mine kept leaking until I applied some plumbers tape to the upper half. Dry as a bone now. Only took 2 hours of struggling with 2 new Ballcock kits before my brother suggested it and off to the store we went :) If you've never used it, its not even sticky, its like a flimsy light strip you wrap around and press into the grooves in the area where you'll want sealed. It actually made it easier to tighten as well. You've got nothing to loose. Good luck and happy flushing!

Jeeeeeeezus! Watched this a dozen times while doing it. Still managed to have to unscrew and rescrew multiple times. The big ball thingies didn't fit so I had to shorten the rod. Once in, it works beautifully. I'm NEVER using that new style again. Not after $165 water bill for near constant running. 😩

I know Absolutely nothing about this stuff so Thank you. My husband passed away so it's up to me now to fix stuff. I have a question. This tank assembly with the ball float (I think that's what it's called lol) I have same one as in the video. Can I get one of those universal kits that do not have this ball float? Or does it need to be the exact one I already have?

My stuff hasn't been replaced since the 80s apparently. I wish the nut on the water supply line was that easy to get off. We got it done though! No leaks, and we tinkered so that the bowl would fill correctly. Finally no drip drip drip drip from the top of the ballcock thing!

Should you put plumbers tape on the ball-cock supply valve shank? After installation, I had a slow leak between the lock nut and tank bottom. It was torqued to specifications. Your thoughts?
@everythinghomerepair17478 жыл бұрын
No it is not needed the gasket is for the seal not the threads.

Adrenalin Junkie At my house, the hose was faulty. They have rubber in both ends to make the seal. After I replaced it, it was perfect, but I DID get a fountain the first time using the old hose! lol. @windsofmarchjourneyperrytr28237 жыл бұрын
Mary Threads I could've swore he mentioned it...I personally found out when cranking the top adjustment screw enough means eventually you don't have enough water to flush the toilet because it still drips...you need to do this. :) oooh, I bet I could make a fortune doing this for well-off incompetent people once I've done it once. :) Like snaking a drain. Plumber said 150.00. I said, "Bull. It takes you under 10 minutes. It's just gross. 50.00. Take it or leave it." He took it, of course.
