Much appreciated! Here I was feeling like an imposter. To know that you also find yourself with imperfect vessels and “fix” them is so very relieving! Thanks for sharing your very deliberate process!

Great work! The shape and glaze are a perfect match in my opinion, as the light-play in the crackled surface only adds to whatever you choose to display in the vase.

I am one of the few who really enjoy the trimming stage. I love to be able to add or substract subtle details. I prefer it over the throwing of the pot or whatever. Granted I have trimmed too thin and I have vases warp in the kiln from it, but you learn as you go. I have had to stop throwing on the wheel because I have had two back surgeries this year and headed soon to another. Getting old sucks! lol. I have started to hand build vases using a kind of origami folding of the clay. It has been quite fun to experiment. I enjoy watchign you trim and I would love some of the tungsten steel trimming tools!

I think a lot of potters enjoy trimming. Putting the finishing touches on a pot is a very happy feeling. I love holding up a pot I just trimmed and turning it in my hands and loving what I created.

As a beginner who's too intimidated to ask questions in class your insights are invaluable! Thank you for your knowledge and your very well produced and concise videos Florian :)

As someone who has only had minimal experiences teaching, my FAVORITE students have ALWAYS been the ones who ask questions. Having eagerness to learn is one of the reasons that humans are where we are now. Hope you're able to reframe your intimidation into excitement!

If we were in the same class, id appreciate it if you asked your questions because as a fellow anxious person, id probably be wanting to ask the same ones but am too intimidated to do so. Take one for the team. Team anxiety lol

Florian, I loved seeing this process. (Welcome to my wobbly pot world.) I know you have talked before about the idea of "fixing" a pot in the trimming. But it was really a great experience to see it actually done. Though i could barely discern the wobble, I see it was there. I would love to get to the point of "popping the pot back on the wheel" if my trimming moves do not please me. Sigh. I always stop a tad too soon, or trim right through the darn thing. Thanks for this video. XXX.

I really love the shape of that almost perfectly cylindrical vase except for a slight step out halfway up. It's also really neat to see the glaze in close-up. It's so deep seeming!

Hi Florian I was showing some of your work to a few people at the local pottery/arts class. Fingers crossed they all join the channel and enjoy your videos as much as I do. Any chance you can recommend tools/wheel etc for a new person wanting to make their own little bits and pieces for around the house?

This is super helpful, thank you! Do you have any recommendations for an easy clay to work with on the wheel for beginners? I am new to this and am looking for any advantage I can get haha.
