How to fix AKAI GX-R88 strange grinding sound from tape transport

SORRY FOR sometimes BAD VIEW ANGLES ON VIDEO...
In this video i have successfully repaired Akai GX-R88 tapedeck transport issue. It is very nice deck with glass ferrite (GX) heads equipped. Complaint was that when playing cassette there is some strange grinding sound, so this was the only request that i had to do for customer.
This device have had bad idler tire, but to change that idler there are lots of work waiting for me...

Thank you for showing us the mechanism by tearing down so much. Actually, if you only change the idler tyre, it's a less than 3 minutes' work.

i have not find better option to properly change that one :) (there is option to fish that idler out, but i always like to look good into other parts and their condition) Cheers!

@@LT.tapeheads.service I tried with Akai GX75 and Gx912, I only took the cassette door off, and then remove the cover, then remove the spring with a simple tool, then the idler assembly can be pulled out by hand.
