What happens is your computer can have a build up of what is called flea power. Another way of putting it is a residual or static electricity that remains in certain electrical components. This build up can cause your computer to fail to turn on, turn on then off, freeze, have a black screen issue, etc. Some repair shops will charge people to do this five minute repair. It's often referred to as a "hard reset". It's hard to prevent because it can be caused just by every day use but it is good to know how to do this simple procedure...Save yourself some $$$.

This happened to me when I got a 240 watt charger for my M15. This fixed my issue, But I realized the battery was bulged and needed to get replaced.

I have a m17 laptop and it will not turn on. I already had Dell replace the motherboard, charging port, charger, and logic board. Is there anything else that will need replaced? (Its still under warranty and the laptop has been doing this for 4 months and just did it for the 3rd time)

I would ask them if you can the laptop exchanged for a new laptop. Sometimes when the laptop is that new they will do it. It sound like there is a short somewhere that is causing issues and it keeps causing issues.

my alienware 17 got hit by a power surge years ago and it turns on but beeps 7 times. I derped and tried these methods but realized the power cable wasn't properly plugged into the charger block thingy and saw the light come on, I laughed, plugged it in, finally in years I saw picture but it said, "no boot device found" then press any key to restart but it gave me no picture again, turned it off and back on and it beeps 7 times again. I gotta find out what this means, the last dell tech I had out for my desktop said try a hdmi in another screen but that didn't work. Time for some more research.

Sounds like you may need to replace the battery. Also I wouldn't keep trying to use it with the battery. It could cause further problems.

@Mengchiv Bun I can understand not wanting to open it. The only other things you could try before open it up is try plugging it in a different outlet. It sounds simple but it works. Also try testing or getting a new power cord although this is the least likely possibility. Sometimes its a matter of removing one small panel. Hope this helps!

Also I bought this laptop brand new less than 6 months ago so I don’t feel like it should be having many problems. It would make sense for it to stop working over time but I wouldn’t have expected to need to make repairs before having it for 6 months. Is this normal?

@@tdwwolf6107 No that is not normal. Although if you bought it 6 months ago then it should still be under warranty. Dell/ Alienware typically comes with a 1-year warranty. I would suggest calling in the problem right away. Let me know how it goes.

@@EggheadFixersit won’t turn on when I press the power button after sleep mode. When I press the button the keyboard turns on (rainbow colors) for half a second. It does it a few times for about 2 minutes and then fully turns off. I tried everything you showed in the video.

I just bought a alienware m11xr3 and when I press the power button to turn the screen on, it shows up as a blue screen with some static lines on the top half of the screen then beeps 8 times signaling LCD failure. I am not sure what to do nor what exactly needs replacing. The screen? The LCD cable? is it something else, or something that isn't plugged in all the way? I have tried taking out the RAMs one at a time, cleaning the RAMs, following the steps in this video.

Sounds like you may a LCD or LCD cable problem but if you want to make sure before you do all that work. I would try and get it to display to an external monitor. If it displays to the monitor then you need the laptop works just not the LCD or LCD cable. You can use a TV with a HDMI cord if you don't have a monitor. Let me know how it goes:)
