Just fixing a loose tap issue for a client. Your video demo is all well and good in a new kitchen without waste and other plumbing all installed. Maybe show the cheap set of tube spanners that go up and over the rod vertically for when the space is not so easy to access

This was a lifesaver! My kitchen sink tap was becoming loose at the top. I had this exact set up however with only the one metal rod & nut. I had no tools so I used my small hands & strong fingers to tighten the nut. Worth the pain hahah

Hi James, After watching your video about sorting out a leaking mixer tap I was confident of having ago and getting it right. The tap was slightly different I unscrewed the round cold bit, unscrewed the small screw,slid the tap off and removed the little brass clip. Then it was just a matter of undoing the brass unit. Whoever put it in did not mean for it to come out...ever!! I’ve now got to change the whole tap as it will not budge.!! Thanks for a great video, I’m a new subscriber! Graham👍

Great video as usual James . Whilst a little simple for me well done for doing the more elementary stuff for those less talented. Glad to see even professionals have difficulties with using an adjustable in tight areas. Looking forward to the under cupboard pipework set up - I expect I will take it up as I do my kitchen refit. Really enjoying the Ale Army Massive!! For those who don't know it is a group of people (some plumbers and non trades)having a laugh over a beer ( or whatever your tipple is) discussing the world the universe and everything. In addition you can get on the spot advice on a project on top of which you get to influence what videos are coming and to choose the music that James puts fun lyrics to. The minor fee is a pittance for all the advice, laughs and interactions with a great bunch of people. Sign up know - you won't regret it!! Well done James - Hold Tight!!

Am I fitting a kitchen? No. Do I need to tighten my kitchen sink tap? No. Am I going to anything with a tap or a kitchen? No. Am I still watching this cos I find this guy entertaining and informative? Yes. Actually, your videos helped me plumb and install an entire bathroom. First time soldering pipes and such. It was a great learning experience and your happy attitude really helped when I got to a stressful bit. Will be forever grateful and will probably watch your videos forever more. Who knows, I may tackle the kitchen next lol

I have this exact problem and the tap has been loose for months as the basins depth and size impedes the use of spanner, and no one I know has the tube spanner I could borrow. My question though is, could I not hacksaw those threaded bars short enough to fit but also allow me to use a car socket set, which I have? Is there some future issue I may face I If shorten the lenght of threaded bars? Thanks

If you are fitting a new sink, fit the tap and waste outlet Before you put the sink in place, then all you do is fasten the sink down to the opening in the worktop and connect the supply and waste.

Installing a taller monoblock / spray / Flexi tap (into a flimsy stainless sink) so will need a brace under for stability. You mention the plastic one but do the metal haefel (is it?) type ones that fix to the carcass actually work or are they just a waste of ano tenner? Anyone used one?

Well I have the same set up on my kitchen sink but for the life of me I cannot get anything near it to tighten that sodding screw as it has worked it's way loose over the years. It's physically impossible without taking the whole sink unit apart. I have tried with long nosed plyers and a spanner with no way of getting a purchase. Is there a hack to get round this please ?

What about installing taps that have the weight system? So you can pull the tape out, swish around then it gets pulled back into the tap holder? We have one but the weight system isn't working properly.

Move the weight to before it's natural bend, add another weight and check the weight doesn't foul on the rail on the back of the cab near the back panel cut out

Why put the panel for the pipes on the side of the carcass? If you fit it to the back of the carcass you can put a shelf in with a cut-out at the back for the pipes - nice neat pipework and a large useful shelf. :-)

Help. I have a problem, brand new house with a combi boiler, thermostat upstairs and down. When I have the upstairs stat on and the downstairs stat off the radiators upstairs get hot and six out of eight downstairs radiators also get very warm. The plumber has changed out a valve but is now scratching his head. They are thinking they may change the TRV’s from bi-directional to not being bi-directional if that makes sense. My thoughts were that may stop the problem but not the cause. Does anyone have any suggestions.
@SHEZZAMAN19964 жыл бұрын
Only thing I can think of is the downstairs 6 radiators that get hot have been teed into the upstairs zone instead of being kept separate.
