Your tuning lessons are so effective that I feel like everything else I've learned about tuning drums was a conspiracy to keep me sounding bad. This stuff is on par with that time when I was a kid and my grandpa told me I was supposed to count and play at the same time in terms of having an immediate positive impact on my sound.

I loved your snare video! "Or maybe your snare sounds like crap...because it's a crappy snare!"😂 That eas actually my problem. Haha

Rob changed my entire outlook on tuning. My drums always sound good now because I just keep it super simple and don't overthink it.

“simple as that”. lol. Love it

Rob Brown, He's Our Man! If He can't Do It? No One Can!! great to see you on these YT Shorts. Question : What is Table Top Tight? How tight should it be? Thx for the Video. Man, what batter head are you using? My DW Nickel over brass Snare doesn't sound like that (with the reso head at table top Tight) ? I'm suing a HD Dry batter head.

and when the bottom head is too tight will the snare also sound crappy?
@RobBeatdownBrown2 ай бұрын
If you crank the snot out of it, yea. If the top head is tight on top of that you’ll end up with a St Anger situation. Common sense is key
@franek8662 ай бұрын
@@RobBeatdownBrown ok, thanks man, ill tune everything down and then try to find the spot

Meanwhile I already knew and the thing was as tight as my budget
@sydhamelin12652 ай бұрын
Without watching, I'm going to guess (based on how I go about it). The two biggest culprits I come across - 1. Bottom head has never even been touched. So it's all out of tune, and sometimes so loose it's rattling. 2. The snares themselves. Either way too tight to the bottom head, or they have never been adjusted to a proper distance from the head itself. So get them adjust to where the dial will be relevant.

But you don't want to crank it up so far that you choke the resonance. There is a happy spot.

Or som gaff tape
@kcChicken1232 ай бұрын
Good way to choke out any drum. Snare included. The reso does not need to be cranked. It can be. But you can get amazing tone out of a snare by dialling it down

Still need a gel at the bottom. That resonance is nasty...
