That is a clear sign that this is a. hardware issue and the card is disconnected because of the cable or it has fried and needs replacement. Open the macbook and check if the cable is just loose first.

ARtHuR HEnSoM if you can add it back after removing it then it’s likely the wifi card is broken. I would just get a USB wifi adapter as a work around instead of replacing the card.

That means the WiFi card needs to be replaced because the setting were saved from when it was working but now the Macbook is not recognizing the WiFi card hardware. Make sure all connection are tight and if it doesn't show up then replace the card.

Deleting the profile can never permanently delete anything, the profile will show up again under the + option as long as the Macbook recognizes the physical card when it boots.

Had a problem connecting with my Pace router. Even though the connection looked solid, it would drop intermittently for 30-60 seconds. I had no wireless problem with any other router, even neighbors in my own building. Swapped the router, had their tech support configure a few things- still the same problem. Deleting the remembered network didn't help. Deleting the Wi-Fi service itself, as suggested here, appears to have fixed the problem. We'll see if it holds up. Thank you! Wish my ISP's tech support knew about this.

Does this same process work to fix a BlueTooth issue? I had sudden failure and so I tried the SMC, NVRM, delete the bluetooth plist file, and nothing has kept it working for long. Now a couple months later I had the WiFi quit working, and through a bunch of SMC, NVRM, resetting the VPN and deleting WiFi networks and adding back, I did finally get it to work. Can't get the BT to fix itself again though. Maybe another delete and reboot is in order? I'm on Ventura 13.7.1 OS. THANKS!!!!

I have issue with 2.0Ghz i7 2011. The wifi works only for a few minutes if turns on at all??? I have switched wifi card with working wifi both tested working in different model i7. It's very likely its the cable that connects the wifi card to the logic board. Replace the cable.

Once connected loads page then will stop, shows wifi on top (when click turn wifi on nothing happens?) When i erase wifi from list reapply shows off on top screen can not turn on...

So, if the wifi disappears that mean "physically" the connection between the logicboard and the wifi card are severed in the middle of operations. Replace the wifi card first, then replace the wifi cable or just save yourself the headache and replace both. If that doesn't fix the issue then inspect the wifi cable socket on the logicboard, look for bent pins. Good luck.

Note: Poor antenna connection or no antenna at all will never make the wifi card disappear.

It should work if it fits the slot, OS X will load the drivers automatically on startup.

Could be the router blocked out the Mac address, that happens quite alot, best way to deal with it is to reset the router. Other wise you can add the MAC address to the allowed list if you want to be super technical.

Re Bluetooth issues- I have read all the comments and your answers saying that wifi and bluetooth are typically in the same card. Wifi for me is not an issue at all... But Bluetooth-- My bluetooth headphones are not being discovered. But before i open up my macbook pro (i'd prefer not to if don't need to), can you please interpret this from when I check System Report > Hardware > Bluetooth? Are other devices working with bluetooth? You should start with an SMC reset and test to see if your headphones are the culprit first, then work on the wifi bluetooth card connection.

the website doesn't have that interactive video map for any macbook airs and under troubleshooting for wifi fix i just get linked to this video telling me to use your website to find out the info that i need.

The website is a work in progress and should be completed be the end of the year. We try to answer all comments with in 2 days, is there any specific issue that you're having?
