2012 Nissan Frontier here. Fyi, I'm not a car guy. I had crank, no start, and no crank issues. I thought a new battery would help, but that's another story. (Got a brand new lemon battery.) So right away, you said "Other people miss it," and that was perfect because of the guys that replaced my camshaft sensors for $1k. After that didn't work, they said it was a security issue. They said it may be something with the key, and if i turned the key upside down, it might start. Ok. Well. Sure, i guess. Here's one thing that i stopped doing, and it seems to have helped. That thing is not leaving my keys in my truck. I am not worried about it, so I would always leave my keys in the truck whenever i wasn't in it. I thought that the key flashing on the dash meant that the keys were in the truck. A reminder to not lock your keys in your truck, i thought. I guess that's not it. But again, i don't think like a car guy. However with that said, I haven't had a problem since, but i always have my fingers crossed in the back of my mind. Also, ended up getting a good new battery, and the cleaned the corroded connections. It's been a bit of a grind with my 160k mile frontier, but i still love it.
