I think first, replace the fuel filter. If that didn't work, check the glow plugs

My A4 won't crank but lights come on dash but no hesitation to crank could it be the same problem ?

I think you should first check your starter motor, make sure that the car cranks, if it cranks, but no start, then follow my video, that might get it running.

First, check fuel filter is not blocked, then check the fuel pump fuse, then the fuel pump relay, if both are working fine, get to the fuel tank and disconnect the power supply, test if there's 12v coming to the pump, if there's power supply, remove the pump and test it on the table. The fuel pump could be the culprit.

You will need to check the fuse diagram for your car model, and you will find the fuel pump fuse
