A temporary solution to wipers not working is to apply Rain-X to your windshield. This is a water repellent which will cause rainwater to bead and run off from wind. This works extremely well at speeds over about 45 MPH (about 70 km/h). When you’re traveling at typical in-town speeds, there is not enough wind to blow the water off your windshield, but the water will still bead, so it’s still somewhat effective. I recommend using Rain-X even with the wipers working, just running them as necessary…you will see much better.

Hi, I got the same issue and behaviour of the front wipers and in addition the rear one too on my e39'03 tourer and I've replaced the relay with newer production year, but no changes to the wipers behaviour. Still seeking for the trouble. Assume the switch/lever is faulty. Good video by the way! BMW is always fun!

Great video, i liked that you tested the relais on his function :=) i got nearly the same problem with my bmw 316i e46 sometimes wipers are working, sometimes they stop wiping without pullung the lever...so i think its the relais too in my case

Great video mate. You can move that black drain cover at the back with a 10mm wrench, loosen the bolt slightly and it slips right out! Ive had the same issue but after rebuilding my relay my wipers fail after 5 mins or so. No closer to finding the problem.

Now i know....your problem might be in the motor or the arms that are stuck or moving hard and drains too much current and that's why is blowing the relay

I don’t have the same issue in my e46. My wipers work, but the spin knob in the wiper lever doesn’t work that controls the speed when put at the first push up. Does the relay control that part of it as well. Chasing it and have no idea where to look. Do you know if the relay controls that as well?

Nope, that is controlled by a module, it might be just the stock bad or you can check it with a scanner to see if the module has an error

Hi Mate, I have got an e46 320i 150hp manual. The windscreen washing pump doesn't work. I checked all the fuses that belong to the windscreen system. they seemed to be alright. My bmw 318 series has a similar issue: The dippers keep on working and can't be stoped. Since that happened, the indicators are not working except the hazard lights. The switch system is knocked off as well. Can't flush not flash the beam lamps. Please help. You may reach me on phone if you approve.

I have this problem with my 745 but I think the problem is the whole car lol electrical disasters. Tbh mine runs great engine wise but battery problems are killing me. I just fixed transmission failsafe and no I didn't just push the gas for bout minute, troubleshooting shit makes more problems come up. I know I love bmw's but I'll only own manual for now on

I just checked all my fuses I checked my relays all good I switched my motor with a new one and I still get nothing my windshield wipers spray but I get no wipers I have a 2008 328i e92 what else should I do

Your problem is the module that control the wipers. It might be the FRM module. Check if something else is not working like windows, interior lights or something else that is run from that module. You can check it with a scanner

@@WarpDriveM everything else is working properly the only thing not working and it's not on that line is my oil level sensor no communication to the water pump or to my thermostat which I don't think it has anything to do with that I am getting codes A6C9 A6CA. All the problems suggest to be the JBE module! (Junction box module) is located under the glove box fitted directly on to the fuse panel. You you replace it don't forget that needs to be coded.

I have a 2008 535i my wipers go up but do not go down..if i push down on them with my hands than when i hit the wiper switch it goes down..any suggestions before i take it to mechanic?

You can check the arms on the inside. Between the motor and the hole from the arm you should have small channels. If those are rounded that is your problem. And check if the nut is completely tight as well. If everything is ok scan the car to see if you have an electrical error for the wipers and you go from there.

That could be your module. Maybe it must be reset, recoded, or your battery is bad....if the battery is bad your modules go crazy...

You have to check your fuse diagram because the washers are on a separate fuse. In my case are fuse nr 2 and 4.

if everythig is ok than its just some wires issues. check the plugs on the relays and back on the fuse box. it sounds that you have a bad ground or + wire issue.
