Just wanted to say thanks for this. My daughter broke her end off in her iPhone 6 Plus. Her world ended. I've seen many methods involving super glue and I was afraid of making things worse. Imagine my fear when I came across your method. I decided to go for it and twist the bit with my hand at first and gave it a pull. Just as you said, there is definitely some grip. I pulled out the drill and went very slow, but even with the grip it would not come out. I decided to try one more time, but instead of pulling straight out, I pulled at an angle and a couple of seconds later, the tip flew out. Plugged a good cable in and the iPhone was charging. No damage! Thank you so much, my daughter got her best friend back...sad I know.

Travis Anderson I had the same feeling that the glue may stick to the inside and would mean sending it away :-)

Thanks Mark. My wife's world ended after a charger tip broke off in her iPad Pro. She worked it with a clip and hot-glue, but what eventually worked for her were two push-pins that she stuck into it. Popped right out. However, I think her efforts with the clip and hot-glue dislodged it a little bit. And she prayed. 😆

Tried all my small pick tools with no luck. Got out my smallest drill bit and it worked a treat. The first couples of times it slipped out, but I finally pulled it on an angle as someone else commented and that worked. Thanks!

Worked with drill on my sons ipad so tried it on my wife's ipad where her headphone Jack got stuck in the port for months. Also worked. Thanks for the video. Delighted with that result.

Thank you. It didn't work perfectly for me but the drilling shook things up enough for me to be able to use a paperclip and tiny screw driver to finish clearing the debris. Very helpful vid!

THANK YOU!! This totally worked for us in less than 5 minutes (most of the minutes were spent looking for our drill). Safety pins didn't do anything for us and we were too nervous to use glue. Thank you so much for the solve!!

Just watched your video, and the same thing happened to me , with the charger tip breaking in the port , I tried tweezers and hair pins/ needles but had no joy. I just drilled the tip out ,as in your video and behold ... it came out a treat! Just wanted to say a huge thank you for taking the time out and sharing your knowledge . Bless you .

Tried all the methods including attempting the super glue trick. Then followed your method and after about 7 or 8 failed attempts my drill bit snapped. I then used the broken drill bit in my fingers to scrape out the plastic “guts” of the cable end and nearly gave up until finally the small metal casing popped out. Thanks! My iPad repair only cost me $3 for a new 1/16 drill bit.

Hey just a PSA...this is a great trick and works but BE CAREFUL. I messed this up last night and damaged the charging prongs. Be sure the drill bit is favoring the side without the charging prongs so you don’t damage them.

"glue could be risky" so instead you put a drill into your phone which could easily mangle the charging cords lol. Also, what width is that drill bit? I found 1/16 of an inch to be too big.

Tried this but it didn't work...the drill bit came right out. what did work was a safety pin. The combination of the super sharp point and angle/torque plucked that bugger right out. It came out in two pieces but it came out and still charges.
