THANK YOU! With the cost of everything from 2020-2023 inflation new blinds are going to break the budget to replace all the blinds. I came up with some plans to make my own blinds, but the materials and time were not cost effective for standard window coverings (awesome if I were trying to do a custom high end look, but I just need basic for a home with kids and pets). Your tutorial will help immensely to bring a friend's home back to life and functionality.

Much appreciated video. I never knew it could be that easy. I tried taping the broken ends on the sides of our blinds, (damaged by mischievous cats) but it ended up looking ridiculous. Thank you for taking the time and effort to post this video. 😊

I lost the middle string!

I had cordless blinds, so the middle string is under tension and wants to zip away into the upper housing. So I used vise-grips locking jaw pliers to hold the string right above the slat I had to replace, and then when I was done, right below the lower housing so I had loose enough string to re-tie the knot in the plug. Thank you for saving me a trip to the store and for keeping a set of blinds out of the landfill.

Help! I followed the steps and lost the middle string. I gave cordless mini blinds. I took off the entire set of blinds, slats everywhere, and can't figure out how to get that middle string back.

Yeah, I had the same issue. Needle nose pliers barely helped, couldn't get the string to lock and it was under tension the entire time, kept snapping back into place. Cordless blinds are great but not when it comes to home repair.

You may need to buy one new one then, save the old use for future slat needs. Check and see if there are extra slats at the bottom of yours though and use those first.

Sue your apartment complex. They should be the ones replacing these blinds because they are the ones who supplied you with the cheap blinds. They should never charge you for cheap products that break with normal use.

Blinds dont break from normal use. Mine never do. A child putting their face in them isn't normal use. My daughter broke one slat as a child by her finger while looking out of them but 14! No way! I replace blinds bc of my cat. Broken blinds are extremely trashy looking to me so when one end breaks, I've bought new. I've never heard of a landlord/ apartment complex owners to provide blinds. But if they did. Yes, it would be your responsibility to fix what is broken that doesn't come from natural wear and tear. Goes with the rest of the place. (Carpet, wood flooring, windows, screens) That's why deposits are required but if damages exceed that deposit, they have the right to sue. You are to leave the place as is was when you moved in. I have always left places i rented better than when I moved in bc I take care of it as if I own it.
